Apartment Jannowitzbrücke
About
You know what? I wasn't expecting much from Apartment Jannowitzbrücke – honestly, the name alone sounds like you need to practice German pronunciation before booking. But this little 3-star spot on Rungestrasse actually surprised me in the best way. The building has that solid, no-nonsense Berlin vibe where you can tell it's been around but someone's been taking care of it. When I first walked up, I was right in the heart of Mitte, which means you're basically surrounded by everything that makes Berlin interesting – and I mean the real stuff, not just tourist traps.
The location is what really got me. You're literally a few minutes' walk from Jannowitzbrücke S-Bahn station (hence the name, obviously), and honestly, that connection is gold. I could hop on the S-Bahn and be at Museum Island in like ten minutes, or catch the U8 and end up in Kreuzberg for dinner without thinking twice. What I loved though – and this is something you only notice when you're actually staying somewhere – is how the neighborhood feels during different parts of the day. Mornings were pretty quiet on Rungestrasse itself, perfect for grabbing coffee at the little place around the corner, but by evening you've got this gentle buzz from people heading to the riverside area near the Spree. The apartment setup worked perfectly for me because, well, it actually feels like living in Berlin rather than just visiting. You get your own space, a proper kitchen if you want to hit up one of those amazing German markets, and honestly, after a few days it starts feeling like your temporary Berlin life. The 7.6 rating makes sense – it's not trying to be fancy, but everything works and the staff actually knows the area. I mean, the guy at check-in gave me better restaurant recommendations than most travel blogs, pointing me toward this Turkish place on Köpenicker Strasse that I never would've found otherwise.
Here's the thing about staying here – you're close enough to all the major Berlin stuff that you can easily hit Alexanderplatz or walk over to Hackescher Markt, but you're not stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. At night, it's actually quiet enough to sleep with the windows open (well, most nights – Berlin's still a city). The S-Bahn does run nearby, but honestly, after the first night I barely noticed it. If you're someone who wants to experience Berlin like you're temporarily living there rather than just checking boxes off a sightseeing list, this place gets it right. It's practical, the location is genuinely useful, and you'll probably end up discovering parts of Mitte that feel more real than the guidebook version.

Excellent stay. Good location. Very narrow staircase from door to apartment.
Great location with lots of space. Affordable parking lot very close.
The bathroom was tight, but not a problem.
Superb
Nice hosts. Perfect location for exploring the city. Nice, clean apartment.
A great stay
A lovely lady met us and showed us the apartment which was very spacious and well equipped. Could not be better except for the stairs!
The outside approach was marred by the graffiti which was widespread locally and the stairs up to the apartment were steep and spiral! But don't let that put you off the apartment is well worth the climb.
We enjoyed our stay and would stay again!
Very convenient to public transportation, restaurants, grocery and also very large
Very good
very good location to shops and nightclubs

Spacious apartment in a great location - better than reviews would suggest!
Spacious apartment in a great location.
Mattresses could be of better quality.
Very good
Big apartment, close to metro and S bahn
The flat was not cleaned properly, our feet were sticking to the floor. Beds were squeky. Key information on booking is wrong. Staff took a long time to answer on the phone on how to get in.
The apartment is well situated close to transport and the main centre of Berlin but the few things I mentioned should be
We liked the property as in the spaces but the entries were very unkept and the old wooden spiral staircase difficult to climb.
The two entries: one staircase difficult to climb and the other dirty and unkept. The shower curtain was mouldy and on request did not get changed as they said we were not there when they came to do so. The blinds in the main bedroom were only half the height of the windows and sunlight would stream in from ad early as 4:30 am so we slept with bath towels on our faces to get some nearly morning sleep. We had to place a bucket under the pipes of the kitchen sink as water was dripping out of the ill fitted pipes. We also reported this but nothing was communicated back. When we arrived we were shown around the apartment by a lady from the restaurant where we had been told to pickup the key but she claimed she did not know much about it when we complained that two bedrooms had been made ready when we in fact asked for a three bedroom apartment . We found an unmade up bedroom on our own and made up the bed to sleep a single from our group. All in all I don’t feel there was enough care to welcome us the tourists in cooperation with Bookings.com whom I trust to make my bookings.
It was a very enjoyable space for our small group of students and one teacher.
The apartment was very spacious - we had two girls in one suite, and two other double rooms. Seven could comfortably stay for weeks. We were able to cook some of our meals, keep drinks cold and freeze ice for our lunch box. The water pressure was great and the water was always hot. It was only a block and a half from the subway station, so very convenient.
There was no place to hang wet towels, so we hung them over hangers in the bedrooms. The tvs were nice, but hardly any channels came in.
marvellous location, great property would stay again
