Appartement am Tegeler See
About
First Impressions
When I first arrived at Appartement am Tegeler See, I'll be honest — the building itself isn't going to win any architectural awards. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you. This three-star property sits quietly on Schlieperstrasse in Reinickendorf, and while the neighborhood might not be on every tourist's radar, that's actually part of its charm. The moment you step inside, there's this immediate sense of calm that you just don't get in the bustling city center.
The Tegeler See Magic
Here's what nobody tells you about staying near Tegeler See — it's like having Berlin's best-kept secret right outside your door. I mean, most visitors are fighting crowds at Alexanderplatz while you're literally steps away from one of the city's most beautiful lakes. The morning walks along the water are incredible, and honestly, watching locals jog past or walk their dogs gives you this authentic Berlin experience that tour groups never see. The apartment setup means you can grab coffee and pastries from the nearby bakery and enjoy breakfast with a proper lake view — something that would cost you triple in Mitte.
Living Like a Local
What I really appreciated about this place is how it's set up for actual living, not just sleeping. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just some sad mini-fridge situation), so you can actually cook if you want to save money or just crave something familiar. The room feels more like staying at a friend's place than a sterile hotel — there's character here, even if it's not flashy. Storage space is generous too, which matters when you're staying more than a night or two.
Getting Around and Neighborhood Vibes
Look, Reinickendorf isn't Kreuzberg — it's quieter, more residential, and you'll hear more German than English on the streets. But that's exactly why couples seem to love it here. The S-Bahn connections are actually pretty solid once you figure them out, and parking isn't the nightmare it is in central Berlin if you're driving. There's a decent restaurant scene within walking distance, nothing fancy but honest German food that locals actually eat. Plus, you're close enough to Tegel Forest for some serious nature time — something most Berlin visitors completely miss.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.8 rating makes perfect sense once you spend time here. It's not trying to be something it's not — no pretentious lobby or overpriced minibar. Instead, you get genuine value, a peaceful setting, and that rare feeling of discovering somewhere special. Couples especially seem to get it — there's something romantic about having your own space by the lake, away from tourist crowds but still connected to everything Berlin offers. If you're looking for Instagram-perfect comfort, this isn't your spot. But if you want to experience Berlin like someone who actually lives here, well, this is exactly how you'd want to do it.

Very nice! Balcon,10 minutes walk from Tegel lake and forest. The appartment:an old style Berlin. I suggest It!! The host....fantastic!
A small but cozy, clean and quite bright apartment in a quiet residential area, providing all the necessary conditions for living, down to the smallest details.
All great - very nice apartment!
Apartment is nice , clean, located in a quiet neighborhood. Everything is around you. Mall, shops, restaurants and so on.
Very close to public transport. Very quiet, nonetheless.
First the location: you are within 3 Minutes in a big shopping mall to buy groceries and necessities. Within 3 minutes you are also at a subway station. Tegel itself has a lot of shops and the Tegler lake and forest invites for a walk. In walking distance are a bunch of restaurants should you prefer that to self cooking. I also rented a car and found a parking spot at the street all the time. Second the flat: it is first floor and has a fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven, dish washer and washing machine (they also have iron and iron board) . Kitchen has all the utensils you need including coffee machine.Bathroom has a so called sitting bath tub which is good for a hot bath in winter. The balcony comes in handy for smokers. It was very warm and cozy (we have been there Xmas 2022). But I am sure it will be nice and cool in summertime (all those "old" buildings in Berlin are). You also get a powerful wifi and nice TV set. Even though the flat is very near to public transport it is very calm at night. You will have a silent sleep at night. Not to forget: the landlord. She is very friendly. We did not have any issue where we needed her help but I am confident she would have helped if needed. All in all: So much better than a hotel room which will be much smaller in Berlin. If you don't mind to walk one floor stairs and making your breakfast yourself (coffee shop is 2 minutes walk away as alternative) this is the flat to go for! We will come back if available during our next trip to Berlin.
Everything, really! The lovely location, the apartment facilities, the host is SO nice! I for sure recommend it! The apartment is very close to the mall where there is supermarket, close to cafes and restaurants.
