About

First Impressions

Walking up to the Artistic Altbau Apartment, you immediately get that "this is so Berlin" feeling — it's housed in one of those gorgeous old buildings that survived the war, with those impossibly high ceilings and thick walls that tell stories. The entrance feels like stepping into a piece of the city's history, but honestly, that's exactly what draws people to Mitte in the first place. You know you're in for something special when the building itself has more character than most hotels I've stayed in.

Location & Neighborhood

Brüsseler Straße puts you right in the thick of things without the tourist chaos — I mean, you're in Mitte, but it's the part where actual Berliners live and work. The U-Bahn connections are fantastic (Leopoldplatz is your friend here), and you can walk to so many neighborhoods that each feel completely different. What I love is how you can grab morning coffee at a proper German bakery, then be at Museum Island in twenty minutes, or head the other direction toward the grittier, more artistic parts of Wedding. Couples seem to really get this balance — it's romantic but not stuffy, urban but not overwhelming.

The Space

This three-star apartment actually feels more upscale than its rating suggests, thanks to those incredible Altbau features — we're talking 12-foot ceilings, original hardwood floors, and windows that flood the place with light. The artistic touches aren't just thrown together either; someone clearly thought about how to blend modern comfort with the building's historic bones. You'll find yourself just sitting there appreciating the details, like the way afternoon light hits the walls or how quiet it gets despite being in the city center.

Practical Comforts

Having a proper apartment setup changes everything about how you experience Berlin — you can actually live like a local for a few days instead of just passing through. The kitchen means you can hit the weekend markets (Mauerpark isn't far) and cook with ingredients you've never seen before, or just make coffee the way you like it. The space feels generous too, which matters when you're traveling as a couple and need room to spread out after long days of exploring. Everything works the way it should, but more importantly, it all feels thoughtfully chosen rather than just functional.

Why Guests Love It

That 9 rating doesn't surprise me at all — this place gets the fundamentals right while offering something you can't find in a standard hotel. You're staying in a real Berlin building, in a neighborhood that feels authentic, with enough space and character to make the experience memorable. The location consistently gets praise because it strikes that perfect balance between accessibility and local flavor. Honestly, it's the kind of place that makes you consider extending your stay, not because there's more to see, but because you've found a little corner of Berlin that actually feels like home.

Die Wohnung ist sehr nett eingerichtet. Betten top!!! Bettwäsche und Handtücher haben schön frisch gewaschen gerochen. Wir haben nur eine Nacht dort verbracht und dafür war die Wohnung vollkommen in Ordnung.
