About

You know what? City Apt totally surprised me. I mean, when you see "3 stars" you're not exactly expecting magic, but this place punches way above its weight – that 8.5 rating isn't just for show. I walked in expecting your typical budget accommodation and honestly found myself wondering why I've been overpaying at fancier places.

The thing that hit me first was how quiet it actually is inside. I don't know what kind of windows they've got, but the street noise just... disappears once you're in your room. And these aren't tiny hotel boxes either – the apartments (because that's really what they are) have actual space to spread out. There's a proper kitchenette situation going on, which saved me a fortune on eating out every meal. The fridge actually gets cold, the stovetop works without fiddling around, and they've stocked it with the basics you always forget to pack. Small thing, but there's decent coffee in there too, not that instant stuff that tastes like regret.

What really won me over though was the location – and I'm not talking about some vague "convenient to everything" nonsense. You're actually in the middle of where things happen, but tucked away enough that you're not dealing with crowds every time you step outside. I could walk to three different coffee shops I actually wanted to drink at, hit the good grocery store (not the tourist-trap one), and there's this little park about two blocks over that nobody seems to know about. Perfect for morning runs or just sitting with a book when you need five minutes away from being a tourist. The front desk folks – well, there isn't really a traditional front desk, more like a small office – but they know their stuff. When I asked about getting around, they didn't just hand me a generic map. They actually marked up the good routes and warned me about construction on the main avenue that would've made my life miserable.

Honestly, the only thing that might bug some people is that it doesn't feel like a hotel hotel, if you know what I mean. No lobby to lounge in, no room service, no concierge in a fancy uniform. But that's sort of the point – it's more like borrowing a friend's really nice apartment in a city you don't know. The cleaning is thorough (I'm picky about bathrooms and theirs passed the test), the Wi-Fi doesn't cut out every ten minutes, and the whole vibe is just... easy. No pretense, no upselling, just a solid place to sleep and regroup between adventures. For what you pay, especially compared to the corporate places nearby, it's honestly a steal.

The concierge service in Berlin can arrange exclusive tours of the Berlin Wall remnants, secure reservations at traditional beer halls, and organize personalized visits to world-class museums and the historic Reichstag building.
