Design Apartment Berlin Mitte
About
Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect from Design Apartment Berlin Mitte when I first walked up to Gerichtstraße 47 – the building looks pretty unassuming from the street, and you know how these Berlin conversions can go either way. But once you climb up to the first floor (which, fair warning, means hauling your luggage up a flight of stairs), you're in for a pleasant surprise. The space feels like someone actually put thought into how people live, not just how a place photographs for Instagram. The apartment has this clean, minimalist thing going on without being sterile – think warm woods and clever storage solutions that you'll actually use. What really got me was the kitchen setup; it's compact but functional in that very German way where everything has its place and actually works. The bed was surprisingly comfortable too, which matters more than you'd think after a day of wandering around Mitte's cobblestone streets.
The location is actually pretty brilliant once you get oriented. You're tucked away on a quieter residential street, so you won't deal with the tourist chaos that hits areas closer to Unter den Linden, but you can still walk to most of the good stuff in Mitte without breaking a sweat. The Oranienburger Tor U-Bahn station is maybe a seven-minute walk – I timed it because I'm that person – and from there you've got easy access to basically anywhere in the city. There's this great little späti (corner shop) around the corner on Brunnenstraße where you can grab essentials and surprisingly decent coffee, plus the owner speaks perfect English if your German is as rusty as mine was. I mean, you're also walking distance from some solid restaurants that aren't completely overrun with tourists – there's this Turkish place on Invalidenstraße that locals actually go to, which is always a good sign.
What really sets this place apart is that it feels like staying in someone's well-designed apartment rather than a hotel room that's been focus-grouped to death. The WiFi actually works consistently (crucial for anyone trying to navigate Berlin's sometimes confusing public transport app), and there's enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward key-passing-through-intermediaries thing you sometimes get with apartment rentals. The only minor thing I'd mention is that the street can get a bit lively on weekend nights, but honestly, that's Berlin for you, and it quiets down by midnight usually. For a 4-star place with a 9 rating, it delivers exactly what you'd hope for – a comfortable, well-located base that doesn't feel like every other place you've stayed. It's the kind of spot where you can actually picture yourself living if you moved to Berlin, which is sort of the highest compliment I can give a place.
Apartments in Berlin provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned German culinary traditions.

Great location, comfortable stay, and excellent value for money
The apartment is located near the S-Bahn Wedding station, in a residential area with a Turkish community, which guarantees delicious restaurants (we recommend Sarajevo) and shops nearby. The Leopoldplatz metro station is about 300 meters from the entrance, and there are convenient stores like Lidl, Penny, and DM right next to it. The entrance and staircase to the apartment may seem a bit intimidating, but once inside, you’ll find a pleasant and cozy space. The living room features a large TV, a sofa bed, an armchair, and a work desk. One of the bedrooms has a single bed, while the other has a queen-size bed. The furniture is modern and minimalist, but it serves its purpose perfectly for a short stay. You can trust the pictures on the website. I particularly liked the bathroom, though the toilet seat is quite high, which may leave some people's feet dangling. The kitchen lacks a microwave but includes a coffee machine with Jacobs capsules, which was a nice touch. Overall, we were very satisfied, and the price-performance ratio is excellent. Communication in English was effortless, although I also enjoyed practicing my German. Highly recommended—finding three separate "bedrooms" this close to the center at this price is rare!
The windows face a busy street—I didn’t mind the noise, but others might prefer keeping the windows closed, which significantly reduces the sound
