It's actually quiet – and I mean properly quiet, not that fake "peaceful oasis" nonsense you read about hotels right next to construction sites. This apartment-style accommodation sits in one of those tree-lined residential streets in Köpenick where the only sounds you'll hear are kids playing in courtyards and the occasional tram rumbling by in the distance.

I'll be honest, when I first heard "Treptow-Köpenick," I was worried I'd be stuck in some soulless outer district, but this area surprised me. You're basically living like a local here – there's a proper German bakery just around the corner where the woman behind the counter will remember your order after two days, and the weekly market on Luisenhain (maybe a ten-minute walk) has some of the best produce I've found in Berlin. The apartment itself feels like someone's actual home rather than a sterile hotel room, which means you get things like proper coffee mugs instead of those tiny hotel cups, and – this might sound silly – but the shower actually has decent water pressure. The decor is what I'd call "modern German comfortable" – clean lines, good lighting, nothing too fancy but everything works properly.

What really makes this spot work is the S-Bahn connection though. The Köpenick station is close enough that you're not hauling luggage for miles, but far enough that you don't hear the trains. Getting into central Berlin takes about 30 minutes, which honestly isn't bad at all, and you'll probably find yourself enjoying the ride along the Spree. Plus – and locals will tell you this – Köpenick has this whole old town area with cobblestone streets and waterfront restaurants that most tourists never see. I mean, you could easily spend an entire afternoon just wandering around the Schloss Köpenick area or grabbing a beer by the water. The 8.5 rating makes sense to me because while it's not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities, it delivers exactly what it promises: a comfortable, well-located base that feels authentic. Just don't expect a concierge or room service – this is more about experiencing Berlin like someone who actually lives here rather than being pampered like traditional hotel royalty.
