Holiday Inn – the niu, Flash Berlin Charlottenburg by IHG
About
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment you walk into the Holiday Inn niu Flash, it doesn't feel like your typical chain hotel at all. I mean, sure, it's got that IHG backing, but someone clearly decided to have some fun with the design here. The lobby has this whole urban-cool vibe going on – think exposed concrete mixed with pops of neon and street art-inspired touches. It's like they took the energy of Berlin's creative scene and actually managed to bottle it up in a Charlottenburg hotel, which honestly isn't always easy to pull off in this more buttoned-up part of town.
The location on Franklinstraße is actually pretty smart if you think about it. You're tucked away from the tourist chaos but still super connected – Messe Nord/ICC is literally a five-minute walk, and the U2 line gets you to the heart of things without much fuss. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even though you're not exactly in the middle of nowhere. The rooms themselves are compact but cleverly designed – someone definitely thought through how to maximize the space without making you feel like you're sleeping in a shoebox. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I'm picky about this stuff), and there's enough USB ports and outlets that you won't be playing musical chairs with your devices, which let's be honest, is half the battle these days.
Here's the thing though – this isn't a place where you'll get babied with tons of services or a fancy concierge desk, but that's sort of the point. The staff knows their stuff and they're genuinely helpful, but it's more like getting advice from a knowledgeable local friend than dealing with overly formal hotel personnel. Breakfast is solid without being fancy, and the whole vibe just works if you want something that feels fresh and unpretentious. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me – it's not trying to be a luxury experience, but it delivers exactly what it promises with some genuine personality thrown in. If you're the type who appreciates good design, wants to be near the action without being overwhelmed by it, and doesn't need your hotel to be the main event of your Berlin trip, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Good value with nice rooms
Clean, nice staff
There were few extra amenities
Good
The room is functional and comfortable, held in a simple modern style.
The location is quite boring, and also not very well connected to public transport. I would have liked a water boiler and some tea in the room.
Great value
Great location, excellent reception, very clean
The bathroom could do with ventilation instead of the built in bluetooth speaker :D
Fresh, spacious and delicious
Very clean and modern vibe, the room was spacious and lacked almost nothing and the breakfast was superb! Staff was nice, reception had a bar and a lovely lounge and ran 24/7. We were very satisfied with how this had turned out!
There was no minibar in the room (meaning we couldn’t store our own food and drinks in the room which was a bummer) and the walking shower lacked a curtain meaning the water was EVERYWHERE after showering. Almost no amenities, except for a bottle of 3-in-1 shampoo-shower-handsoap (thankfully I knew that beforehand and brought my own body cream and conditioner). These are all just details or a wishlist of sorts, but they would definitely add to the already pretty lovely experience!
Would recommend to anyone for a peaceful stay at this hotel.
Kind staff and location was good. The hotel all round was clean and worth the money.
Very good
Very comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Good 247 service. I like the quietness of neighbourhood.
Not good housekeeping. Skipped my room and not refilling shampoo. Not as convenient location, but still ok. Can kinda get everywhere in 30min.
The hotel is very modern, clean and cool. Very good value for money.
The place is very quiet and clean. Surroundings of the hotel are safe and cool - we had a great view.
They gave us two separate beds instead of one big bed.
Simple but good hotel to stay a night or two traveling to Berlin.
Simple but good hotel to stay a night or two traveling to Berlin. We were able to find a free parking slot on the street, but that is not guaranteed. nice bedding and clean rooms
Breakfast is ok, but the pancake machine didn't work, I think the staff was just lazy to tern it on and clean later. and there were no fried eggs
Good hotel for a business trip
Good location, very clean, fancy design, perfect breakfast, kind staff.
Very crowded breakfast - I had to sit down next to / opposite to unknown people. No fitness room.
Superb
24hr reception and bar, which served food all night
Rooms a little compact but ok
