Holiday Inn – the niu, Flash Berlin Charlottenburg, an IHG Hotel
About
You know what? I wasn't expecting much from a Holiday Inn, honestly – but this niu Flash place in Charlottenburg completely changed my mind about chain hotels. The whole concept is sort of brilliant, actually. It's like they took the reliable Holiday Inn formula and gave it this modern, almost boutique-y makeover that actually works.
First thing that hits you is the design – it's got this clean, minimalist vibe that feels way more expensive than what you're paying. The lobby has these cool industrial touches mixed with warm lighting, and I mean, it's Instagram-worthy without trying too hard. The rooms are compact but smart about it, with everything you actually need and nothing you don't. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I'm picky about mattresses), and the shower had proper water pressure – those little things that make or break a stay, right? What I really appreciated was how quiet it was at night, which isn't always a given in Berlin hotels.
Location-wise, you're in Charlottenburg, which honestly might be my favorite part of the city now. It's got that perfect balance – close enough to all the main attractions but far enough from the tourist chaos to feel like you're experiencing the real Berlin. The S-Bahn connections are solid, so getting to Mitte or Kreuzberg is no problem at all. Plus, there's actual neighborhood life around here – proper bakeries, local cafes where you'll hear more German than English, and some surprisingly good restaurants within walking distance. The staff seemed to genuinely know the area too, not just the standard tourist spots everyone recommends.
What really sold me was the value proposition. An 8.1 rating for a 3-star hotel? That's because they're doing the fundamentals really well instead of wasting money on fancy amenities nobody uses. Check-in was smooth, WiFi actually worked everywhere, and the whole place just felt thoughtfully put together. I'd definitely stay here again – it's one of those places that gets the balance right between style, substance, and not breaking the bank.

Simple but good hotel to stay a night or two traveling to Berlin. We were able to find a free parking slot on the street, but that is not guaranteed. nice bedding and clean rooms

Poor breakfast
We really enjoyed our stay in The Niu Flash. Hotel is very well located, close to city center, however still in zone free of parking fee. Good breakfasts, very clean.
24hr reception and bar, which served food all night
Everything was as described. Clean, modern and I assume recently refurbished
