There's a little kitchenette setup in the rooms that's actually functional, which is clutch if you want to grab some cheese and bread from the weekend markets and have a proper breakfast. Speaking of which – the Saturday market at Hackescher Markt is about a ten-minute walk, and there's this excellent Vietnamese place just around the corner that locals actually go to. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you'd be surprised how rare that is. When I asked about getting to Tempelhof for an evening walk, the guy at reception didn't just point me toward the U-Bahn – he mentioned which exit to use and warned me they close the gates at sunset. That kind of thing matters when you're trying to make the most of a short stay. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me because while it's not trying to be the fanciest place in Berlin, it nails the fundamentals and adds enough personality to make you want to come back. If you're the type who values being able to explore a city like you actually live there for a few days, rather than just hitting the major tourist spots, Home Wilma gets it right.
