Home Wilma
About
I'll be honest – when I first walked up to Home Wilma on Singerstr., I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. The building has this understated elegance that's pretty typical for this part of Mitte, but once you step inside, you realize they've actually put some serious thought into the whole experience. The lobby feels more like someone's really well-designed living room than a typical hotel space, which I guess makes sense given the name.
What really got me was how they've managed to nail that sweet spot between being in the thick of things but not dealing with the chaos that comes with some of the more touristy areas. You're literally a five-minute walk from Alexanderplatz if you want all that action, but Singerstraße itself is surprisingly quiet – I mean, you'll hear the occasional tram, but it's not keeping you up at night or anything. The rooms themselves are thoughtfully done without being fussy about it. I loved that they actually have proper blackout curtains (you know how Berlin gets bright early in summer), and the beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. The bathrooms are compact but smartly laid out – honestly, better designed than most Berlin apartments I've seen.
Here's what I think makes Home Wilma work so well: they seem to get that travelers want to feel settled, not just housed for the night. There's a little kitchenette setup in the rooms that's actually functional, which is clutch if you want to grab some cheese and bread from the weekend markets and have a proper breakfast. Speaking of which – the Saturday market at Hackescher Markt is about a ten-minute walk, and there's this excellent Vietnamese place just around the corner that locals actually go to. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you'd be surprised how rare that is. When I asked about getting to Tempelhof for an evening walk, the guy at reception didn't just point me toward the U-Bahn – he mentioned which exit to use and warned me they close the gates at sunset. That kind of thing matters when you're trying to make the most of a short stay. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me because while it's not trying to be the fanciest place in Berlin, it nails the fundamentals and adds enough personality to make you want to come back. If you're the type who values being able to explore a city like you actually live there for a few days, rather than just hitting the major tourist spots, Home Wilma gets it right.

Perfect base to explore Berlin
Really lovely apartment that had everything we needed. Bright and light, perfectly clean, comfortable beds, great facilities. Instructions on how to access property and communication from host all exceptional. Quiet area, and our daughter enjoyed the playground just outside.
I loved the place. The host was nice and responsive. The best part was sun light and spacious inside
It was easy.
Short city trip
Decent location in a quiet neighborhood. Some of the things in the apartment will remind you of the DDR but it's really good value for the money. There is public paid parking on the street 200m away from the apartment.
Like travelling back in time.
Lovely clean place with an easy check in with good contact and instructions from the host.
Not really much not to like. Basic kitchen and furniture, but in keeping with the area.
Superb
Apartment is perfect for two people, plenty of space and the facilities are fairly modern and all functional...
...except the washing machine, it did not work. Also the apartment is quite far from the center so just something to be aware of
Cozy home in a quiet residential area. 15 minutes walk to Alexanderplatz.
The guidance to collect the keys was very clear & easy to follow. The house is cozy with good amenities.
The lock box is situated high on a sign pole & we had difficulty reaching it. The washing machine was not working.
Apartment with basic necessities
The place is quiet. There is a playground next to the apartment building so the kid with us enjoyed it. There are 2 grocery stores nearby. We were able to cook our own food 😉 The host was able to provide electric fans for each bedroom as per request. The 2 bedrooms are spacious.
It was a bit of a struggle for us on how to open the main door of the apartment. Only one of us was able to get it opened 😂
Enjoyable and recommendable.
Frear location, very efficient check in and out, well equipped apartment. Sweet and very clear apartment. Very suitable for the whole family. Everything functional and taken care of.
Comfortable home in Berlin
The home was comfortable with a good furnished kitchen. There were fans in each room, making it quite comfortable. The bathroom had a shower as well as a tub. It was very clean. The dining area was useful for dinner as well as playing card games. It was an easy walk to grocery stores, restaurants, and the u- bahn station. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this apartment.
The key to the building and apartment was difficult to find. Vegetation had grown up making the key box more hidden .
Very good
Nice location,near Central.quiet area.
