Hotel AMANO Grand Central
About
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel AMANO Grand Central? It's actually way cooler than you'd expect from a 3-star place in this part of town. I mean, when you first walk in, there's this whole modern European vibe going on – sort of like they transported a piece of Berlin right into Midtown. The lobby has these sleek concrete walls and industrial lighting that somehow feels warm instead of cold, which honestly surprised me.
The location is pretty solid if you're doing the whole tourist thing. You're literally a few blocks from Grand Central (hence the name, obviously), so getting around is dead simple. Penn Station's close too, which saved my butt when I had to catch that early Amtrak to Philly. What I really appreciated was how walkable everything felt – you can hit up Times Square if you must, but you're also close enough to some decent food spots that aren't total tourist traps. There's this little coffee place around the corner that the front desk guy told me about, and honestly, their espresso was better than what they served in the hotel lobby.
The rooms are where AMANO really delivers for the price point. Nothing fancy, but they've got this minimalist thing down – clean lines, good lighting, and the bed was actually comfortable (I'm picky about mattresses). The bathroom's compact but well-designed, though the shower pressure could be stronger. One thing that impressed me was how quiet it stayed at night, even though you're right in the thick of Manhattan. I was expecting sirens and honking until 3am, but the windows must be pretty decent quality. The staff seems to know their stuff too – check-in was smooth, and when I had questions about subway routes, they actually gave useful advice instead of just pointing to a tourist map. For what you're paying, especially in this neighborhood, it's a solid choice that doesn't feel like you're settling.

friendly and smiling staff, clean and comfortable.
Staff were not that approachable and so while I knew breakfast times I had no idea if cost or what it consisted off and got the impression questions not welcome. So I never had breakfast and found options in the city.
Fab, very good, good location, friendly staff
The location of this hotel is ideal with a few restaurants around and the train and tram stations so close by. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly as well!

Spacious, clean room & comfortable sofa bed. Close to station. Staff were attentive when required.
Great location right next ot the main train station, easy for travel into in the city. Also close to a Red Bus hop on/off stop and the tourism office. Our flight was cancelled and the staff was very kind in keeping our room for us till we arrived.
