Hotel Berlin Potsdamer Platz by Leonardo Hotels
About
You know what struck me first about this Leonardo Hotels property? It's how they've managed to plant themselves right in the thick of things without feeling touristy. I mean, you're literally a two-minute walk from Potsdamer Platz – which honestly can feel like Times Square sometimes – but the hotel sits on Hallesche Straße in a way that feels more like you're staying in an actual neighborhood. The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg location is perfect if you want to bounce between the polished corporate side of Berlin and the grittier, more authentic spots. Walk one direction and you're at the Sony Center grabbing overpriced coffee, walk the other and you're stumbling into proper Berlin bars that don't close until... well, they don't really close.
The building itself has that modern German efficiency thing down – clean lines, lots of glass, but not cold like some of these newer places can be. Check-in was smooth (they actually had my room ready at 2 PM, which never happens), and the staff switched to English immediately but weren't weird about it when I attempted my terrible German. The rooms are what you'd expect from a solid 4-star – nothing groundbreaking, but everything works properly and there's enough space to actually unpack your suitcase. The beds are legitimately comfortable, and the blackout curtains are a godsend if you're dealing with jet lag or planning to sleep past the early Berlin sunrise in summer. One thing I appreciated – the windows actually open, which sounds basic but you'd be surprised how many hotels have sealed you in completely these days.
What really sells this place, though, is how connected you feel to the city. The U-Bahn station is practically underneath you (Hallesches Tor), so you can be in Mitte in ten minutes or over in Prenzlauer Berg in fifteen. But honestly, I found myself walking everywhere because the location just works. You're close enough to Museum Island for morning visits, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can grab dinner somewhere normal. The breakfast spread is pretty decent – proper German bread, good coffee, and they don't give you weird looks if you show up at 10 AM looking rough. There's a small gym that's adequate if you need to work off all that schnitzel, and the WiFi actually handles video calls without cutting out every five minutes. The 8.6 rating makes sense – it's the kind of place that just does everything right without trying to impress you with gimmicks. It's reliable, well-positioned, and feels like Berlin without being aggressively themed about it.

A lovely experience, very luxurious
It was very classy

We loved the hotel, it was really comfortable, the hotel staff ware really friendly!
The hotel is really well located, you can walk around or take the U-bahn and S-bahn that are really close by. The Breakfast is REALLY good, fresh and the staff is great - it's quite expensive, but as my husband said "totally worth it"
It was a great stay, if we had to pick something it would be the price of the breakfast, it was a bit on the expensive side.
Great location, excellent breakfast but very warm in room
Close to transport links, excellent breakfast selection, very nice and comfortable
Air conditioning didn’t work very well and room was extremely hot. We reported it and maintenance came to check and said it was ok. They unlocked the windows for us but it was still very hot

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and booked two connecting rooms. The rooms were huge, the bed was large and very comfortable, and the bathroom was also exceptionally spacious. The hotel is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of U1, U3, U6, and U7 subway stations, as well as S-Bahn train lines. The hotel staff were charming and helpful with every request or issue we had. Recommended!
The air conditioning in the room was adequate but didn’t cool the room well enough. The shower drainage could also use improvement.

Great value close to everything!
Excellent value for the price! Clean, spacious, well equipped rooms, nice sauna and spa area with decent gym, very friendly front desk. Street parking nearby was easy to find and location is close Anhaler Platz station and within 10 minutes walking of Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie and about 25 minutes of Brandenburg Gate.
Nothing!
Great place to be based in Berlin away from the Central area
