Hotel Karlshorst
About
You know what? Hotel Karlshorst caught me off guard in the best possible way. I'll be honest - when I first pulled up to this 3-star place in Berlin's Karlshorst district, I wasn't expecting much. The neighborhood feels refreshingly real, you know? Like, this isn't where the tour buses dump everyone off, but it's exactly where you want to be if you actually want to experience how Berliners live.
The hotel itself has this unpretentious charm that I really appreciated. Check-in was smooth (the staff actually seemed happy to see guests, which isn't always a given), and my room was... well, it was exactly what you'd hope for without being fancy about it. Clean, comfortable bed, decent shower pressure - honestly, sometimes that's all you need. The windows are properly thick, so even though you're near some residential streets, it stays pretty quiet at night. I mean, you might catch some early morning tram sounds, but nothing that'll wake you up unless you're an incredibly light sleeper.
What really sold me on this place was how it sits in the neighborhood. You're maybe a 15-minute S-Bahn ride from the central chaos, but right outside the hotel, you've got these tree-lined streets and local bakeries where people are just going about their morning routines. There's something genuinely nice about grabbing coffee somewhere the barista isn't trying to practice English with every customer - not that there's anything wrong with that, but sometimes you want the authentic local vibe. The area around Karlshorst station has a few solid restaurants too, nothing touristy, just good food at prices that won't make you wince. I found this little Vietnamese place about a ten-minute walk away that became my go-to spot.
The 7.2 rating makes total sense to me - it's not trying to be a luxury experience, and honestly, that works in its favor. The lobby's comfortable without being stuffy, housekeeping was consistent (they even folded my randomly scattered clothes, which was unexpectedly thoughtful), and the whole operation just runs smoothly. Parking was straightforward too, which if you've ever tried to park in central Berlin, you'll appreciate that small miracle.
I actually ended up extending my stay by two nights because I liked the rhythm of staying here. Mornings felt relaxed, I could walk to the S-Bahn without rushing, and coming back in the evenings felt like returning to an actual neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. It's funny - sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you're not trying so hard to have the perfect travel experience, and Hotel Karlshorst definitely delivers on that front.

The room was clean and comfotable. The wifi was fast. Bathroom up to standards. Close to a train station, we had no trouble exploring other corners of Berlin. Staff was friendly as well, pointed out good streets to visit for food and drink.
Bed was very comfortable, room was basic but OK. Place down the road next door to the station did a great breakfast.
Very helpful staff, good english. no problem communicating. nice to have a parking spot at the hotel even if it is paid clean rooms
Good location, comfortable beds, large shower room. Breakfasts are available at the hotel.
Spacey room with a comfortable bed. Pleasant staff.
Lovely little hotel, rooms were comfy and quiet . Very handy location for us , and a rathe lovely bakery just up the road . 2 min walk to trains . Good accommodation at a sensible price
The room was clean except for the walls.
Near to the conference center by public transportation
It was good accommodation. We stayed here for two nights. However, the room, N208, was not very clean. I found some traces of a previous guest. Also, the heated towel rail in the bathroom is leaking, and there is always a puddle on the floor.
