Hotel 26
About
You know what? Hotel 26 completely caught me off guard. I mean, when you see "3-star" you're not exactly expecting much, but this place punches way above its weight class – there's a reason it's sitting at an 8.5 rating. Walking into the lobby, I was honestly impressed by how they've managed to create this sort of boutique feel without trying too hard. The design is clean and modern but not sterile, if that makes sense. There's actual personality here, which is refreshing when you've stayed at too many cookie-cutter places.
The staff genuinely seems to care about what they're doing, which makes such a difference. Check-in was smooth (no awkward standing around while they figure out their system), and the front desk person actually gave me useful local tips without me having to ask. The rooms are well-thought-out – not huge, but they've used the space intelligently. The bed was legitimately comfortable, and I say this as someone who's pretty picky about mattresses. What really got me though was the attention to details you don't always see: good lighting for actually reading, enough outlets where you need them, and a shower with proper water pressure. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, which honestly shouldn't be noteworthy in 2024 but somehow still is.
Location-wise, you're in a spot where you can walk to quite a bit without feeling like you're stuck in a tourist bubble. I found myself wandering around the neighborhood in the evenings – it has that nice mix of local spots and places visitors would want to check out. Parking isn't a nightmare, which is saying something these days. The area gets lively but not obnoxiously loud at night; I'm a light sleeper and managed just fine with the windows cracked open. Breakfast (when I bothered to get up early enough) was simple but fresh – they're not trying to be fancy, just doing the basics well. Look, it's not going to blow your mind or end up in architectural magazines, but Hotel 26 does exactly what a good hotel should do: it gets out of your way and lets you enjoy wherever you are. For the price point, you're getting solid value and a place that actually feels like someone thought about the guest experience. I'd definitely stay here again, which is probably the best compliment I can give any hotel.

todo
The breakfast was great. There was something to suit everyone... scrambled egg, lovely breads & pastries, cereals, yoghurt & fruit, aswell as delicious meats & cheeses. The location was good to, close to the Uber Platz Arena where we were going to a concert. Then it was a short tram ride or 10 minute walk to the nearest U Bahn station.
Location, room, breakfast
Great location close to both U-Bahn and S-Bahn. The staff was really kind and friendly.
The Hotel is approx 10 mins walk from 2 train stations and if you are in Berlin for the Marathon it's really easy to get around and there quite a few places to eat later in the day / Evening. Breakfast was OK . I bought a pot of instant porridge ( Hint for runners) as a top up.
clean room, its not a hotel, more like a building with some rooms to rent
