Melarose Feng Shui Hotel
About
You know what caught me off guard about the Melarose Feng Shui Hotel? It actually takes the feng shui thing seriously – I mean, really seriously. When I walked into the lobby, everything felt deliberately placed, from the way the reception desk curves to how the lighting hits these carefully positioned mirrors and plants. It's not just some gimmicky theme they slapped on for marketing, which honestly surprised me for a 3-star place.
The rooms have this calm, organized energy that's hard to explain – maybe it's the way they've arranged the furniture so there's this natural flow from the entrance to the windows, or how they've avoided sharp corners everywhere. The beds face away from the door (apparently that's a feng shui thing), and while it felt weird at first, I slept better than I have in months. The linens aren't luxury thread count or anything, but they're clean and soft, and the whole space just feels... peaceful, I guess? Even the bathroom layout makes sense in this subtle way that most hotels completely mess up. There's decent water pressure too, which matters more than perfect energy alignment when you're trying to rinse off after a long day.
What really won me over was how the staff seems to get what they're going for here. Check-in was smooth – no rushing, no pushy upselling, just this unhurried approach that matches the whole vibe. The woman at reception actually explained some of the design choices when I asked, like why certain artwork was positioned where it was, and you could tell she wasn't just reciting a script. The common areas stay pretty quiet even when busy, partly because of how the spaces are laid out to naturally separate different activities. I spent time in their little reading nook near the lobby and barely noticed other guests coming and going. For a hotel that's clearly not trying to be flashy or chase a higher star rating, they've really nailed this specific thing they do well. If you're the type who gets stressed by chaotic hotel environments – you know, those places where everything feels cramped and noisy and the lighting gives you a headache – this place might actually be perfect for you. It's not going to wow you with fancy amenities, but sometimes what you need is just a well-thought-out space where you can actually relax.

An excellent and affordable hotel. Very quiet and clean.
clean and spacious in our room.
Cllean and good bed
Location, parking, nice staff, decent breakfast
The room was nice on the first floor with a large bed, TV a large bathroom and a view at the hotel backyard. Rooms and hotel spaces were very clean, the breakfast is really really nice and the plates never empty as the staff keeps bringing things missing. The staff is very polite and willing to cooperate and facilitate you. The wifi has a really good and stable connection suitable for work and telcos. There is a tram station nearby like 2' from the hotel that can take you at the heart of the city and the train station Greifswalder Strasse is like 10' walk from the hotel
Very friendly personnel. I was able to eat breakfast with goods from the bakery very early in the morning on the Sunday before my marathon.
Everything clean and proper. No complaints!

Very neat room, comfortable bed and friendly personnel. Some nice café’s cross the street
