Monteurzimmer / Apartment im Souterrain Berlin Neukölln
About
First Impressions
The Monteurzimmer / Apartment im Souterrain Berlin Neukölln isn't your typical hotel — and honestly, that's exactly what makes it interesting. This three-star property sits in a basement level apartment on Kirchhofstraße, which might sound underwhelming until you realize you're getting your own private space in one of Berlin's most authentic neighborhoods. I mean, where else can you live like a local for a few days while still having the convenience of hotel-style booking?
The Neukölln Experience
You know what's great about staying in Neukölln? You're right in the thick of real Berlin life, not some sanitized tourist bubble. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of Turkish bakeries, vintage shops, and late-night bars that locals actually frequent. Kirchhofstraße itself is pretty quiet — you can walk to Hermannplatz U-Bahn station in about ten minutes, which connects you to the rest of the city without any fuss. The fact that recent guests rated the location 9.4 out of 10 tells you everything you need to know about how well-positioned this place really is.
Your Private Space
The room setup is actually quite clever — you're essentially getting a self-contained unit with your own entrance, so there's none of that awkward hotel corridor business. The souterrain (that's basement level, for those who don't speak German) might sound less than appealing, but it's surprisingly cozy and stays cool during Berlin's warmer months. You've got basic amenities sorted, and the space feels more like crashing at a friend's place than staying in some corporate chain. Plus, there's parking available on-site, which — trust me — is worth its weight in gold in this part of Berlin.
Practical Perks
What I really appreciated was how straightforward everything was. No pretentious lobby to navigate, no overly complicated check-in process — just simple, functional accommodation that does exactly what it promises. The private parking situation is honestly a game-changer if you're driving, because finding a spot on the street around here can be... well, let's just say it's an adventure you don't always want to have after a long day of sightseeing.
Why Guests Love It
The 7.1 rating reflects exactly what this place is — solid, no-nonsense accommodation that works particularly well for couples (apparently they rate it especially highly). It's not trying to be something it's not, which is refreshing in a city where so many places oversell and underdeliver. You're paying for location, independence, and the chance to experience Berlin from a neighborhood that most tourists never see. If you want marble bathrooms and room service, look elsewhere — but if you want to wake up and grab coffee from the Turkish place down the street before hopping on the U-Bahn to Museum Island, this spot gets it right.
Apartments in Berlin provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned German culinary traditions.

Very convenient location. Living in an ordinary apartment made me feel like I was a member of the neighborhood. The value for money was excellent. There were many cool things to experience nearby. Check in and check out process was seamless.
This apartment has the potential to be a real gem, if only the problems would be fixed. Physically, it's a nice place. It's fairly spacious, including the bathroom, has a real kitchen, a washer, decent furniture, nice lighting--including the under-the-cabinet lights for the stove. Being in the basement, it's great for escaping the summer heat. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with things for cooking and eating. The location is quite good! There's a station with both U and S Bahns like <10 min walk away. And Berlin's Mitte neighborhood is not that far. As a result, pretty much everywhere I went--ranging from all the sightseeing attractions, like museums and such, to nightclubs--was typically close to 30 mins, including walking and waiting for the trains. Not bad!
Location was ideal, well connected to public transportation and not far into the city centre, but far enough away from the chaos and noise.
L'emplacement super
- Aivan kelpo hinta-laatusuhde: halpa, perusasiat kunnossa.
