Motel One Berlin-Bellevue
About
You know what? I wasn't expecting much from Motel One Berlin-Bellevue when I first walked up – the name screams budget chain, right? But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way possible. It's tucked right near the Spree river, and I mean literally a few minutes' walk from the government district where all the political action happens. The building itself has this sleek, modern vibe that feels way more upscale than what you'd pay for a 3-star spot. When I checked in, the lobby had this cool industrial-meets-minimalist thing going on – concrete floors, but somehow it felt warm instead of cold. The staff actually seemed happy to be there, which is refreshing after dealing with some of Berlin's more... let's say "efficient" hotel experiences.
The rooms are small – I'll be straight with you about that – but they're designed really smartly. Everything has its place, and the bed is surprisingly comfortable for what you're paying. The shower pressure is fantastic (trust me, this matters after walking around Berlin all day), and they've got this rain shower head that makes you feel a bit fancy. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you're basically in the heart of the city. I was worried about street noise, but the windows do their job well. The Wi-Fi actually works everywhere, which sounds basic but you'd be shocked how many places mess this up. One tiny complaint – the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental, but opening the windows usually does the trick unless it's peak summer.
Here's the thing that really sold me on this place: the location is absolutely perfect if you want to explore both tourist Berlin and real Berlin. You're walking distance from Hauptbahnhof, so getting anywhere on the S-Bahn or regional trains is a breeze. But more importantly, you're right there near some fantastic local spots that most tourists never find. There's this little Turkish place around the corner that locals line up for, and the weekend market by the river has some of the best coffee in the city. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me – it's not trying to be luxury, but it nails everything it sets out to do. For the price point, especially in Berlin where decent hotels can get ridiculously expensive, Motel One Bellevue gives you exactly what you need without any pretentious nonsense. I'd definitely stay here again, and I've already recommended it to friends heading to the city.

Super central, able to walk to most sites under an hour. Room had everything I needed, and was very clean
Beautiful.
The staff were very welcoming and had a good sense of humour. The value of the hotel was very good and for a night in the city it was fine. We were able to get taxis easily. Walking to the Brandenburg gate took around 20mins & was a pleasant walk.
I had a balcony room upgraded at hotel for 40€ for the two nights. Room was ok, I was happy. Location was ok l, not exactly amongst everything but definitely not far away.
