About this stay

About

You know what surprised me about Motel One Berlin-Hauptbahnhof? I walked in expecting your typical budget chain hotel and actually found myself impressed. The lobby hits you with this sleek, modern design that's way more stylish than the price point suggests – they've got this whole industrial-chic thing going with exposed concrete and pops of color that somehow works really well.

The location is honestly pretty perfect if you're doing the typical Berlin tourist thing. You're literally a few minutes' walk from Hauptbahnhof, which I mean, sounds obvious from the name, but it's genuinely convenient when you're hauling luggage or trying to catch an early train to other cities. What's better though is you can walk to the government quarter and all those big sights along Unter den Linden without dealing with the U-Bahn every time. I stayed here in October and found myself walking to Brandenburg Gate more often than taking transit – it's maybe 15 minutes on foot through some interesting neighborhoods.

The rooms are compact (this is Berlin, after all) but they've designed them really smartly. Everything has a place, the bed is surprisingly comfortable, and the rain shower is one of those small luxuries that makes you forget you're not paying luxury prices. My room faced the street side and yeah, there's some traffic noise, but nothing that kept me awake – just the usual city sounds you'd expect. The Wi-Fi actually works well, which honestly can't be said for every hotel in this price range. One thing that bugged me slightly was the air circulation – it gets a bit stuffy if you don't crack the window, but that's pretty typical for newer European hotels with their energy-efficient systems. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke good English, and they've got this 24-hour bar area that's actually kind of nice for grabbing a late drink or working on your laptop. The breakfast is decent – not amazing, but solid enough that you won't need to hunt for coffee first thing in the morning.

For what you're paying, especially considering Berlin hotel prices have gotten pretty crazy in recent years, this place delivers way more than you'd expect. It's got that efficient German hotel vibe but with some actual personality, and the 8.5 rating makes total sense once you've stayed there. If you're the type who wants to spend money on experiences rather than just a place to sleep, but still wants that place to be comfortable and well-located, Motel One really nails that balance.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Berlin through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city's rich historical heritage.

Amazingly convenient next to central station and bus routes. Feels brand new. Everything worked perfectly and really comfortable. I didn’t have time to eat, but the facilities looked great too.

Modern facilities, easy check in, great location for catching an early train from the Berlin Hauptbahnhof

The room was spacious, not your typical European tightness. Space to walk around and spread out your belongings. The staff was great and breakfast was good.

Great location and easy to find your way around. Lovely hotel as usual as we have stayed in a few Motel ones.
