Nena Apartments – Kreuzberg 61
About
You know what struck me first about Nena Apartments? The building itself – it's this perfectly preserved Kreuzberg gem on Blücherstraße that somehow manages to feel both historic and completely livable. I mean, you're literally staying in the heart of what locals still call "SO 61" (the old postal code), which honestly feels more authentic than those sanitized hotel districts tourists usually get stuck in.
The apartments themselves are actually proper apartments, not those weird hotel-apartment hybrids that never quite work. Each one's got character – and I don't mean that in the real estate agent way where "character" means "broken." The kitchens are functional enough that you can actually cook (there's a decent Edeka just around the corner on Zossener), and the whole setup makes you feel like you're living in Berlin rather than just visiting it. The 8.3 rating makes sense when you realize how rare it is to find a place that nails both the local vibe and actual comfort. Sure, it's not going to blow you away with fancy lobby art or whatever, but honestly? That's exactly why it works.
What really sold me on the location – and this is something you won't get from looking at a map – is that you're positioned perfectly between the touristy bits and where Berliners actually hang out. Bergmannstraße with all its cafes and weekend market is literally a five-minute walk, but you're also close enough to the Landwehr Canal that you can do those lovely evening walks without fighting crowds. The U-Bahn connections are solid too (Mehringdamm isn't far), though honestly, half the time you'll end up walking because everything interesting seems to be within reach. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you're driving – this is proper old Berlin with narrow streets – but most people figure out the residential permit zones pretty quickly.
The whole Nena thing isn't just a gimmick either; there's actually some local music history woven into the building's story, which you'll probably hear about during check-in. It's that kind of detail that makes the place feel rooted in the neighborhood rather than dropped into it. I stayed during both a quiet February week and a busier summer stretch, and the building holds up well – good windows that actually keep the street noise manageable, which matters more than you'd think in this part of town.

Nice experience.
The room was clean and all the required amenities were in place. It met my expectations.
Superb location and really comfortable room
Really well proportioned and very clean with everything you could need. There were 3 of us and there was lots of room in the apartment.

Clean apartment with good amenities
Very clean apartment, good amenities in the kitchen if you want to cook. Room was a little warm but we kept the windows open and it wasn’t too bad! Close to the U-Bahn which was convenient and had great views of the cathedral near the hotel whilst be stayed here.
No complaints!
Property is fine, just needs a very thorough cleaning.
The staff are friendly and the property is well located right near a bus stop. There are restaurants nearby and a small grocery store a few minutes walk away. The bed was comfortable and the wifi worked very well. A fan, albeit very dusty, was provided.
I was really disappointed by the cleanliness. Trash from the previous guest was left in the bathroom. The windows were very dirty (even had bird droppings - room 304). That's not acceptable. Also, please descale the faucets. The drinking water in Berlin is excellent but I was put off by all the calcium on the faucets in the bathroom and kitchen. The room could also use a fresh coat of paint. I also think they should have at least offered to clean the room after 5 days (I stayed a full week). It costs extra if you request cleaning.
Superb
Great location, easy for transport, great super comfy big bed. They allowed us early check in which was awesome. Fully equipped kitchen and big bathroom. Definitely recommend.
No aircon, but at least you can sleep with the door wide open as there is an outdoor blind that can give you privacy.
Nice apartments
Clean
In our situation, by arriving in the night, we didn't receive an email containing the pin for the apartment key. The situation was solved eventually by calling the emergency call number on the check-in page of the location. What would be nice for the future clients is for the receptionist/admin to respond to the messages on the Booking platform.
Very good
Great location, breakfast was excellent, sauna was a plus. Will definitely come back!
