The Danziger, 2 unique roof top units in PrenzlauerBerg, group & family friendly
About
Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect when I first walked up to The Danziger on Danzigerstraße – it's tucked into this lovely residential stretch in Prenzlauer Berg where you've got old DDR-era buildings mixed with the kind of gentrified charm that makes this neighborhood so appealing. But when I got up to those rooftop units, I mean, wow. These aren't your typical hotel rooms – they're more like having your own little Berlin apartment in the sky, and I can see why groups and families keep coming back here.
The two rooftop units are actually pretty clever in how they're set up. You can squeeze in anywhere from a couple on a romantic getaway to a whole extended family reunion (they say up to seven people, and honestly, that works if you don't mind getting cozy). What really got me was stepping out onto those rooftop terraces – you're looking out over the classic Prenzlauer Berg rooflines, all those red tiles and TV antennas, with the occasional glimpse of a construction crane reminding you that Berlin never stops changing. The morning light up there is something else, especially if you grab coffee from that little spot around the corner on Kastanienallee.
You know what I love about staying here? You're right in the heart of one of Berlin's most walkable neighborhoods, but it doesn't feel touristy at all. Schönhauser Allee is literally a five-minute walk, which means you've got the U-Bahn connections to get anywhere in the city, plus all those great restaurants and bars that locals actually go to. I spent one evening just wandering down toward Kollwitzplatz and stumbled into this amazing little wine bar that I never would have found if I'd been staying in Mitte with all the other tourists. The building itself is quiet – well, as quiet as Berlin gets – though you'll hear the occasional tram rumbling by, which I actually found kind of charming after a day or two.
The units themselves feel lived-in in the best way possible. Full kitchens that actually work (I made breakfast most mornings), decent Wi-Fi that didn't cut out during video calls, and bathrooms that are small but functional – very Berlin apartment authentic, if you know what I mean. Check-in was straightforward, though make sure you've got the host's contact info handy since it's not like walking into a hotel lobby. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you're driving, but honestly, you don't need a car in this part of town anyway.
I'd say this place works best if you want to feel like you're actually living in Berlin for a few days rather than just visiting it. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it's not luxury, but it's got character and charm that you won't find in some sterile hotel chain. Families seem to love having the space to spread out, and I noticed the same group of friends had apparently been coming back every summer for their Berlin trip. That tells you something right there.

Very good
Spacious, well-equiped, easy contact with the managing company
Noisy and too hot inside, even if outside is 20 couple degrees

We had a wonderful time in this apartment for our week in Berlin.
Location, amenities, friendly check in staff.
A staff member entered the apartment without advising us. Whilst we understand they needed the portable cot stored in the apartment, we would have appreciated being advised that someone would be coming in to collect it.
Large apartment central location
Spacious apartment with all the amenities, great location close to such nice areas of Berlin

Superb
This is a very large apartment in a great area of Berlin.
Nice.
1. Spacious. 2. Location is very good. 3. Lots of restaurants and grocery stores are within 500m radius. 4. Traveling to centre of berlin is easy. 5. Wi-Fi is good(did not work when we got there, but I tracked the problem to a cable in the wall, had to push it further in) 6. beds where comfortable 7. Best suitable for 3 days stays. We where there for 7 days so we eventually found few faults with the apartment here and there.
1. Cleaning of the apartment, it was not CLEAN but it was clean enough for us. 2. We had problem with the dishwasher on the 2nd day but we got it working. 3. The dryer worked one time and then it stopped working, I had sent an email about that but did not get any reply, I also call the number and no one answered. 4. The location of the apartment is by a busy street so if you want to have some peace and quiet then this is not the apartment for you.
