The Koburger II – central budget studio with extra high bed
About
Look, I'll be honest – when I first saw "The Koburger II" on the booking site, that name made me chuckle a bit. It sounds like a sequel nobody asked for, right? But after spending a few nights there, I actually get why they went with it. This little studio sits right on Koburger Straße in Tempelhof-Schöneberg, and honestly, it's one of those finds that makes you feel like you've cracked some local code.
The first thing that hits you when you walk in is that bed – and I mean literally, because it's positioned pretty high up. My partner made some joke about needing a running start, but you know what? It's actually brilliant if you're traveling with kids because there's tons of storage space underneath. The whole studio has this clever, almost ship-cabin efficiency to it where every square meter counts. The kitchen area is small but totally functional – I managed to make proper coffee and even cooked a simple dinner one night when we were too tired to venture out. The bathroom's compact too, but the shower pressure is surprisingly good (trust me, after walking around Berlin all day, this matters).
What I really love about this spot is how it sits in the neighborhood. You're not in tourist-central Mitte where everything's overpriced and crowded, but you're not stuck in some random suburb either. Tempelhof-Schöneberg has this authentic Berlin vibe – there's a great bakery just around the corner on Hauptstraße where locals actually go, and the U-Bahn connection at Kleistpark is maybe a seven-minute walk. I mean, you can be at Potsdamer Platz in like fifteen minutes, but when you come back at night, it's quiet enough that you'll actually sleep. The only time it gets a bit noisy is weekend mornings when the garbage trucks come through, but honestly, that's just city life.
The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – none of that overly formal hotel reception drama, just practical communication about how everything works. The hosts clearly know their stuff and seem to genuinely care that you're comfortable, which you can tell from little touches like having proper hangers in the closet and decent lighting for reading in bed. It's got that 4-star rating, and while it's not going to blow you away with marble bathrooms or fancy lobby art, it delivers exactly what it promises: a clean, smart, comfortable base for exploring Berlin that won't destroy your budget. Plus, that 8.2 rating feels about right – it's the kind of place where small groups or couples end up staying longer than planned because it just works.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Berlin at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous outdoor festivals and cultural events.

Superb
Great location for us. Comfortable with all the facilities we needed.
Comfy, quiet flat in the city.
The host was good at communicating and flexible about meeting us to hand over keys. The flat was quiet despite being in the city, and was clean, warm and comfortable. The host provided tea and coffee, as well as washing up liquid and hand soap. The apartment is a short walk from access to the U and S Bahn and in walking distance of supermarkets. The kitchenette has a combi microwave and a hob so cooking simple meals is possible. However there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby too.
Clearer instructions about how to dispose of rubbish in line with Berlin's recycling system would be helpful.
Good experience.
Nice studio, well equipped, close to trains, buses and shops. Very quiet.
Clean, comfortable convenient
It was close to train station and shops and our conference venue
Parking was tight
Very good
Drainage in wash basin was poor.
Good
Over all is great on clean8ng side there needs to be improved for kitchen wares and ironing table
Water heater was not clean and didin't use it
I'd try to rebook if I ever happen to be in the same area.
I liked the excellent bathroom and shower. I also liked the very frequent bus services just a minute away at the end of the street.
There was a soft mattress bed and I like a hard mattress. But that's the way the cookie crumbles.
Exceptional
Very quiet and peaceful place. Reccommend!
Exceptional
I had a great time, thank you :)
Good flat for a couple of days stay. A bit small and drives you out of the door.
The flat was clean. As it is located on the ground floor, the windows have metal bars that made us feel a bit odd. The flat overlooks a large selection of bins.
