Apartments am Fernsehturm
About
You know what struck me first about Apartments am Fernsehturm? The name pretty much tells you everything – you're literally staying in the shadow of Berlin's iconic TV tower, and honestly, that's not a bad thing at all. I mean, most tourists pay good money just to visit Alexanderplatz and gawk up at that thing, but here you can see it from your window while drinking your morning coffee.
The place itself is refreshingly straightforward – no pretense, no marble lobbies trying to impress anyone. It's one of those apartment-style setups where you actually get some space to spread out, which is gold when you've been cramming into tiny European hotel rooms for weeks. The 8.1 rating makes perfect sense once you settle in; it's not trying to be the Ritz, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The apartments are clean and functional, with that slightly minimalist German efficiency that somehow feels cozy rather than sterile. Check-in was smooth – none of that awkward hovering around a desk while they figure out your reservation.
What I really appreciated was how genuinely local the whole experience felt. You're right in the thick of things near Alexanderplatz, but without paying those insane tourist-trap prices. The TV tower becomes this oddly comforting landmark – you literally cannot get lost because that massive spike is always there pointing you home. And speaking of getting around, the public transport connections are fantastic. You've got the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams... honestly, half of Berlin feels like it's within a 15-minute ride. The neighborhood has that authentic East Berlin energy too – not the sanitized version you get in some areas, but the real deal with döner shops, late-night convenience stores, and locals actually going about their business. Sure, it can get a bit buzzy during peak tourist season (summer evenings especially), but that's part of the charm. The sound of the city hums along below, but it's not the kind of noise that keeps you awake – more like an urban lullaby, if that makes sense. I'd definitely recommend this spot if you want to feel like you're actually staying in Berlin rather than just visiting it. The three-star rating might not sound glamorous, but sometimes that's exactly what you need – a real place in a real neighborhood where you can live like a temporary local instead of a tourist passing through.

Extremely roomy. Huge bedroom and really stylish & cosy living room. Great bathroom with an abundance of hot water for baths after a long day out in the cold…. Apartment was really well equipped….
Nicely designed spacious rooms, great location, not far from Alexanderplatz and public transport. Bonus view of the Fernsehturm
Everything was great we loved the apartment. Especially the location was really fine, close to the downtown.
The apartment was very spacious and nice and central. Ana gave us many recommendations on restaurants and cafes and helped us with the public transport.
The apartment was located in a great area. It had a beautiful view and looked authentic.
The location was very good and the apartment was very bright. It was well catered and had everything you would need for a stay. Communication with the hosts was quick and easy and they were able to accommodate an early booking. The beds were comfortable and things like tea and coffee had been left for us. The view from the living room was lovely.
Close to a lot of points of interest. Very cozy
