Apartments Rummelsburger Bucht am Ostkreuz
About
Honestly, when I first heard the name "Apartments Rummelsburger Bucht am Ostkreuz," I thought someone was just messing with me – but this place on Hauptstraße turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you've cracked some local code. You know how Lichtenberg gets written off by tourists who stick to Mitte and Kreuzberg? Well, they're missing out, because this area has this authentic Berlin vibe without the crowds fighting for the same Instagram spots.
The apartments themselves are what I'd call "properly German" – meaning everything actually works, the WiFi doesn't cut out when you need it most, and the kitchens have real appliances, not those tiny hotel mini-fridges that can barely hold a bottle of Berliner Weisse. What really got me was how quiet it is at night, which is saying something since Ostkreuz station is right there (and trust me, that station connectivity is a game-changer – you can be in Alexanderplatz in like fifteen minutes). The whole Rummelsburger Bucht waterfront area has been transforming over the past few years, and staying here puts you right in the middle of that evolution. There's this cool industrial-meets-residential thing happening, with new cafes popping up alongside these old East German apartment blocks that have been given new life.
I mean, sure, it's not going to give you those classic Berlin postcard views – you won't wake up to the Brandenburg Gate outside your window – but what you get instead is something more real. The Spree is literally a five-minute walk, and there's this nice path along the water where locals walk their dogs and couples sit with takeaway coffee from that little place on Schreiberhauer Straße. The whole setup feels like you're staying in an actual neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the building has this solid, well-maintained feel that you don't always get with Berlin accommodations – you know, doors that close properly, showers with decent water pressure, heating that responds when you adjust it. It's those little things that make you realize why this place scores so well with people who actually stay here. The staff seemed to know the area properly too, not just the obvious tourist stuff but actual useful information about where to get groceries, which U-Bahn entrance is less crowded, that sort of thing.

Superb
It's a clean, modern apartment in a great location.
The neighnerhood is a bit noisy. Before 6 a.m., we were woken up by a garbage truck collecting glass waste.
Lovely little flat in Berlin
It's a super clean bijou flat with all amenities. Although a bit far from the centre, museums, etc, it's well connected with public transport including to and from the Berlin airport. And it's near to lovely walks along the river to lively areas and great restaurants on the other side of the river.
It could have been just a little bigger. We booked for 3 people and luckily ended up traveling 2 of us, and it was comfy enough for 2 but if we were 3, it would be uncomfortable.
Comfortable.
Every was good, very comfortable place, easy to find, I would go back definitely, thanks!
I had no issues at all!
Great location and good value for money

Emily is very helpful and gives us lots of recommendations for good restaurants. Her hospitality is appreciated. The apartment is very close to the train station.
clean & comfortable apartment, felt right at home
lovely comfortable apartment, we got a free upgrade to the superior room. facilities were so useful, everything worked so well. felt right at home. staff were so helpful and kind.
not much is in walking distance, and trains are confusing but that’s not the owners fault!
Exceptional
The room was spotless with comfy beds and everything you need in the apartment.
The one thing we'd change is having a curtain or door by the shower ... I stayed with a friend and had to use a quilt everytime on the door.
Everything was very good
It was clean, well equippted, spacious interior, pleasent design
A microwave would make it even better
Awesome location and great price!
Location, price, and employees all excellent.
Our room was cold, could have used a blanket.
I am amazed
The apartment is very comfortable. The Host is a nice guy. The location is the best for East Germany
