Arbio I Rustic Loft in Reuterkiez
About
Look, when I first heard "rustic loft in Reuterkiez," I'll be honest – I was expecting some hipster fever dream with exposed brick and mason jar light fixtures. And while there's definitely some of that going on at Arbio I, it actually works pretty well. The place sits right in the heart of Reuterkiez, which honestly might be one of Berlin's best-kept secrets if you're looking for that authentic neighborhood vibe without the Kreuzberg tourist crowds.
The loft itself feels like someone's cool older sibling converted their space and decided to rent it out. You know what I mean – there's character everywhere, from the creaky wooden floors that tell stories to windows that frame the kind of street scenes you'd want to sketch if you were artistic. The rustic thing isn't overdone either, which I appreciated. Sure, there are some rough edges (literally – watch your head on a few of those beams), but it adds to the charm rather than feeling like a design gimmick. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you're basically surrounded by some fantastic little bars and cafés. The sound insulation is surprisingly solid for a place that looks like it prioritizes character over convenience.
Here's the thing about staying in Reuterkiez – you're going to stumble onto stuff you'd never find otherwise. There's this bakery around the corner that locals line up at every morning, and I mean every morning, rain or shine. The whole area has this lived-in feel where people actually, you know, live their lives instead of just posing for Instagram. Getting around is pretty straightforward too, though you'll want to grab a day pass for public transport since you're not exactly next to a major U-Bahn station. The walk to Hermannplatz takes maybe fifteen minutes, which honestly became one of my favorite parts of each day – you pass through these tree-lined streets that change personality block by block. Check-in was refreshingly normal, no weird keypad codes or lengthy explanations about quirky plumbing. The host seemed to actually care about the place, which you can tell makes a difference in how everything feels. Is it perfect? Well, the shower pressure could be stronger, and if you're used to hotel-style amenities, you might miss having someone to call when something goes sideways. But for the price point and the experience of actually living like a local for a few days, it delivers something most hotels can't touch.

Perfect location and it as not as loud as I thought it could be. Nice, spacious apartment with a separate areats to eat dinner, chill out and sleep.
This flat is close to where our daughter lives, so it was very convenient for us. It is also close to the Hermannsplatz U-Bahn, grocery stores, and many restaurants. Checking in was challenging because it wasn’t clear which was the front door. There is an illuminated 88 sign (not on the property door) and the entry is a couple of doors to the right of that, recessed a bit. It would be very helpful if they provided a photo of what the entry looks like. Additionally, the keypad code did not work for us. One has to have a cellular connection to use the button on the website in order to gain access to the flat. The following day they did give us a code that worked. Once in the flat, the instructions for how to lock the door are inaccurate. The button in the middle of the door knob does not work. One must rotate the door knob clockwise in order to lock the door, and counterclockwise in order to unlock it. The flat is large, with a large TV set and comfortable beds. The bathroom is extremely small and it is difficult to take a shower without getting water all over the floor. The kitchen was lacking a few things, including a frying pan (there were pots), a dish towel, draining rack, and there is no light in the kitchen. Oddly there were only two soup/cereal bowls which wasn’t ideal for 4 people. There is a Nespresso machine, a coffee maker, and a water kettle, as well as a few Nespresso pods and a nice selection of teabags.
