The U-Bahn stop at Görlitzer Bahnhof is super close, so you can actually get anywhere in the city pretty easily, though I found myself just staying in the neighborhood most nights because there's so much happening. Fair warning though – weekends can get pretty lively on the street, so if you're a light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs.
