Big family apartment Berlin Treptower Park
About
You know what? I wasn't expecting much when I first pulled up to this place in Treptower Park – I mean, "Big family apartment" sounds pretty generic, right? But honestly, it turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you actually know Berlin instead of just visiting it.
The location is what really got me. You're literally a stone's throw from Treptower Park, which – if you haven't been – is this massive green space along the Spree that most tourists completely miss. I'd wake up and grab coffee from the little bakery around the corner (the one with the grumpy owner who actually makes incredible pretzels), then walk maybe three minutes to the park. There's something about starting your day watching the river flow past while locals are out with their dogs that just feels... authentic, I guess. Plus, you're close enough to the Soviet War Memorial that you can visit without it being this whole planned expedition, but far enough away that you're not dealing with tour groups outside your window.
The apartment itself is pretty spacious – and I actually mean spacious, not "European spacious" where you can touch both walls with your arms stretched out. The kitchen's got everything you need if you want to hit up the weekend market and cook something real instead of eating overpriced schnitzel every night. The beds are decent (not amazing, but you'll sleep fine), and there's this weird little balcony that's barely big enough for two people but somehow perfect for morning coffee. I will say the bathroom's a bit cramped, and the shower has one of those European handheld things that takes some getting used to if you're American like me.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Treptower Park isn't exactly party central, so you can actually sleep with the windows open in summer. During the day you'll hear some street noise and maybe kids playing in the courtyard, but it's the kind of background sound that makes you feel like you're somewhere real, not stuck in some sterile hotel bubble. The S-Bahn connection is solid too – maybe a seven or eight minute walk to Treptower Park station, and from there you're in Mitte in like fifteen minutes. Way better than fighting for cabs or figuring out bus routes with a bunch of luggage.
Look, it's not fancy – the building's got that slightly worn East German vibe, and don't expect anyone at reception to speak perfect English or bend over backwards with customer service. But that's sort of the point. This feels like staying in an actual Berlin neighborhood where people live and work, not some sanitized version designed for Instagram. For the price and the space, especially if you're traveling with family or staying more than a couple nights, it's honestly a pretty good deal. Just bring a decent map app and maybe brush up on your basic German phrases.

The location was good with a supermarket just around the corner and an Italian restaurant opposite. A beautiful park is directly opposite too. The beds were super comfortable and the apartment was clean and tidy. Although tricky to get hold of to begin with, the hosts were super helpful and welcoming, making our stay perfect.
Location was excellent and facilities suited our needs.
