Blue Chili Apartments Prenzlauer Berg
About
So I'll be honest - when I first rolled up to Blue Chili Apartments in Prenzlauer Berg, I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you, and this little spot totally did that. The building itself has that classic Berlin character - you know, the kind where you can tell it's got stories but hasn't been completely gentrified into something soulless. There's this lived-in authenticity that I actually really appreciated, especially in a neighborhood like Prenzlauer Berg where so much has been polished up for the tourists.
What really got me was how genuinely local the area feels once you step outside. I mean, sure, Prenzlauer Berg has its share of visitors, but staying here puts you right in the middle of actual Berlin life. You've got proper neighborhood bakeries where people are grabbing their morning brötchen, little corner bars that fill up with locals after work, and that whole Sunday market scene that happens without any fanfare - just people doing their weekly shopping and catching up with neighbors. The apartments themselves are pretty straightforward (this isn't luxury territory, obviously), but they're clean and functional in that no-nonsense German way. My unit had decent natural light, which honestly matters more than you'd think when you're trying to shake off jet lag, and the kitchen was actually usable - not just some tiny corner with a hot plate that you'd never touch.
The thing about staying in apartments versus hotels is you get this different rhythm, you know? Instead of rushing down for breakfast before it ends, you're wandering to the corner café when you feel like it, or picking up fresh stuff from the Turkish market down the street (seriously, don't sleep on those börek). Check-in was refreshingly straightforward - none of that overly formal hotel dance, just practical information about keys and WiFi and where to find extra towels. I did notice some street noise, especially on weekend nights, but honestly that's just Prenzlauer Berg being Prenzlauer Berg. If you're someone who needs complete silence, maybe pack earplugs, but for me it was just the sound of a neighborhood that's actually alive. The 7.8 rating makes total sense - it's not trying to be something it's not, but it delivers on what matters: a solid base in one of Berlin's most interesting areas, without the tourist-trap pricing or sterile atmosphere you get closer to Brandenburg Gate.

The location is very family friendly. Right near the transit lines with tons of family restaurants, a laundromat, pharmacy, and grocery nearby. The booking agent was extremely responsive any time I had a question.
Hearing system and the shower
Great location with lots of restaurants, Laundromat,Grocery store, pharmacy etc. within walking distance. The neighborhood was very nice. Thanks to Markus, who provided me with all information and updates before my visit.
value for money on great and quiet location
Good proximity to Alexander Platz, with trams right outside door. Mostly quite. Large comfortable bed in a large bed sit set up. Check-in with door codes etc easy to understand. Small but nice courtyard. Nice neighbourhood.
Good location, was clean modern
This apartment was a clean and adequate place from which to launch into exploration of Prenzlauer Berg and Berlin generally. The host sent information about nearby facilities such as grocery stores and restaurants which was very helpful. The location was superb and the living room/ kitchen/dining area was comfortable. The basement apartment opened up onto a bicycle-filled courtyard which was charming and the corridor leading out to Greifswalderstraße was sweet and provided peace and privacy. The bathroom was clean and modern and the shower was first rate.
clean rooms, near the city center, very nice restaurants around, communication with provider was ok
The apartment has everything you need, clean, nice decor. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for cooking. We were also provided with a baby chair upon request. Comfortable bed and sofa to sleep. The location is excellent - close to many cafes, grocery stores, tram to the center. We are very happy that we chose these apartments. The owners are always in touch.
