City Quartier
About
You know what? The City Quartier isn't going to blow your mind, but it's actually one of those places that grows on you. I mean, when you first walk up, it looks pretty standard – kind of blocky, three-star exterior that doesn't scream anything special. But honestly, that's sort of the point. It sits right in the thick of things without trying too hard, and there's something refreshing about that.
The lobby has this lived-in feel that I actually prefer to those sterile chain hotels. Check-in was quick (the staff clearly knows what they're doing), and I noticed they've got that good kind of worn marble flooring – you know, the type that's seen thousands of travelers but still looks dignified. My room was on the fourth floor, and here's the thing about City Quartier – the rooms are bigger than you'd expect for a mid-range place. Not huge, but you're not bumping into furniture every time you turn around. The beds are decent – firm enough that you won't wake up with a backache, though the pillows could use an upgrade if I'm being picky. What I really appreciated was the bathroom situation. Clean, good water pressure, and they've actually got a proper shower door instead of one of those flimsy curtains that stick to you.
Location-wise, you're really in the heart of everything without the premium price tag. I could walk to most of the main attractions (took me about twelve minutes to get to the cathedral square), and there's this little café around the corner that locals actually go to – not just tourists. The breakfast room gets busy around 8:30, so if you want to avoid the rush, either go early or wait until after 9:15. Speaking of breakfast, it's continental but done well – fresh bread, decent coffee, and they actually have real butter, not those weird little packets. One heads up though: if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room facing the courtyard. The street-side rooms can get a bit noisy, especially on weekends when people are heading out for the night. It's not terrible, but you'll hear some chatter and the occasional taxi honking until maybe 1 AM.
What really sold me on this place was the little details that show someone's paying attention. The elevator actually works reliably, there are enough outlets in the room (including USB ports – thank you!), and the WiFi doesn't cut out every five minutes. Plus, the housekeeping staff does this thing where they fold your towels into these neat little shapes. It's silly, but it made me smile every time I came back to the room. With a 7.0 rating, you're getting exactly what you'd expect – solid, comfortable, no nasty surprises. It's not Instagram-worthy luxury, but it's the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day right, and don't feel like you're missing out on anything important.

Great location! Quiet area, very central and close to night life areas of Berlin. Very spacious room with private bathroom, fridge, coffee maker, sink and dishes. Possibility to cook in shared kitchen. Few basic things like coffee filters, kitchen paper, dishcloth need to be bought.
Location was great for my needs (clubbing). Also lots of great food places in very near the place.
