Hotel Prens Berlin
About
You know what? Hotel Prens Berlin is one of those places that just works – it's not trying to be something it's not, and honestly, that's refreshing. When I first walked in, I was struck by how they've managed to make a 3-star place feel genuinely welcoming without all the pretentious nonsense you get at some of the flashier spots around town. The lobby has this lived-in comfort that immediately puts you at ease, like staying at a well-traveled friend's apartment.
The thing about Berlin is that location really makes or breaks your experience, and Prens sits in one of those neighborhoods where you actually feel like you're living in the city rather than just visiting it. I mean, you're not in the thick of Mitte's tourist chaos, but you're close enough that hopping on the U-Bahn gets you anywhere you need to be in fifteen minutes. What I really appreciated was discovering that little Turkish bakery just around the corner – you'll smell the fresh bread every morning when you step outside, and trust me, their börek is worth getting up early for. The rooms themselves are exactly what you'd expect from a solid mid-range hotel – clean, comfortable beds that don't creak when you roll over, decent water pressure in the shower (which, let's be honest, can be hit or miss in older Berlin buildings), and windows that actually keep the street noise to a manageable level.
Here's the thing though – and this is why I'd actually recommend staying here – the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work. Not in that overly rehearsed way where they're reciting scripts, but more like they want you to have a good time in their city. The front desk guy gave me directions to this amazing späti that stays open late when I mentioned I needed to grab some supplies, and he threw in a recommendation for a beer garden that wasn't crawling with other tourists. The 7.2 rating makes sense to me because it's not perfect – the WiFi can be spotty on the upper floors, and don't expect luxury bathroom amenities – but it delivers on what matters most. You get a comfortable place to sleep, you're well-positioned to explore the city, and you're not paying through the nose for amenities you probably won't use anyway. Honestly, for Berlin, where you're going to spend most of your time wandering around incredible neighborhoods or sitting in fantastic cafes, that's exactly what you want from your hotel.

Very clean room (just some dust on floors) and great location Very good value for the price Staff working at desk always kind, helpful, professional 💙 very much appreciated
Very convenient location, you can get to the center both on foot and by metro. There are many places around where you can drink coffee and have breakfast. Normal Internet. Friendly person at the reception.
Staff were very friendly and the hotel is well located. Room was also very spacious with everything you need for a short stay
Hotel was in an excellent location for exploring Kreuzberg and the City sights.
The hotel room was clean, everything needed was there. The breakfast was very nice for 10 EUR
Conveniently located near Kotbusser Tor and two other U-Bahn stations, it is in a great location for airport drop-off and then seeing Kreuzberg and the rest of Berlin. Hotel is much cleaner and comfortable than its exterior would suggest, making for a comfy stay.
Good location in Kreuzberg neighborhood and just 50 yards from Schonleinstrasse metro entrance. Popular younger crowd area. LOTS of many different restaurants. Saturday outdoor market 200 feet away by the river. Typical German breakfast spread. 24/7 desk. Elevator!! Not a high end neighborhood by any means, but feels safe at night. Good Market across the street.
Clean, spacious, nice bathroom, decent breakfast.
Good location and value for money for a short stay, close to the center and 3 minutes from the metro station. The staff is very nice, room was clean and big enough for three people.
