About this stay

About

You know what struck me first about Dilo Apartments? The sheer amount of space – and I mean actual, usable space, not those cramped hotel rooms where you're bumping into furniture every five minutes. At 160 square meters, these apartments in Tempelhof-Schöneberg actually deliver on that "large" promise in the name, which honestly surprised me because so many places oversell their size.

The location on Hauptstraße is pretty brilliant, actually. You're right in the heart of Schöneberg, but it's that perfect sweet spot where you get the neighborhood feel without the tourist chaos you'll find closer to Potsdamer Platz. There's this great bakery literally two doors down – I grabbed coffee there every morning and watched the locals do their thing. The U-Bahn connection at Bülowstraße is maybe a seven-minute walk, so getting around Berlin is dead simple. What I really loved though was how walkable everything felt. You can stroll to the weekend farmers market at Winterfeldtplatz (Saturdays are absolutely packed, fair warning), and there are these little Turkish grocers and cafés scattered along the street that give you that authentic Berlin vibe.

The apartments themselves feel more like staying in someone's well-designed home than a typical rental. The kitchen actually has everything you need – proper knives, decent pots, even a dishwasher that works without mysterious German instructions. Perfect if you're traveling with kids or just want to grab fresh ingredients from the market and cook something real. The bedrooms are generous, and honestly, after weeks of standard hotel beds, it was such a relief to have proper space to spread out luggage without creating an obstacle course. Street noise is pretty minimal, which surprised me given it's right on Hauptstraße – though you might catch some weekend evening chatter from people heading to the bars down the street. The building itself has that solid, pre-war German construction feel, so you're not hearing your neighbors through paper-thin walls.

Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward key-handoff-at-a-random-café situation you sometimes get with apartment rentals. The host actually knows the area well and gave me some solid recommendations, including this incredible schnitzel place on Goltzstraße that I never would've found otherwise. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you're driving, but honestly, you probably don't need a car here anyway. The whole Schöneberg area just invites wandering – tree-lined streets, those beautiful old Berlin apartment buildings, and way fewer crowds than you'll battle in Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg. It's where Berliners actually live, which means better food prices and that relaxed pace that makes you want to linger over coffee instead of rushing to the next tourist checkpoint.

Very good

Beds, balcony and high ceilings. Had a great time!

What could be improved: 2 bathrooms with the toilets in the bathrooms is with a larger group a small logistical nightmare in the morning

Accommodation exceeded expectations.

Great space for a big group. Location not too bad - access to public transport and a short uber to city.
