About this stay

About

You know what surprised me most about Downtown Apartments Living? It actually feels like staying in someone's really well-appointed Berlin flat rather than a typical hotel – which honestly makes perfect sense given the name. I mean, when you're walking up Gartenstraße in Mitte, you're not expecting to find this gem tucked between the neighborhood cafés and vintage shops, but there it is at number 89, looking like it belongs exactly where it is.

The thing about this place is that whoever runs it gets what travelers actually want. The apartments are spacious in that rare Berlin way – you know how most places in the city center make you feel like you're living in a shoebox? Not here. Each unit has this lived-in comfort that's polished but not sterile, with kitchenettes that are actually functional (I'm talking full-size fridges and decent stovetops, not those sad mini setups). The beds are properly comfortable too, which... well, you don't always get that even at four-star places. What really sold me was the morning light streaming through these big windows – there's something about Berlin light that hits different, especially in Mitte where the buildings create these perfect shadow patterns on the street below.

Location-wise, you're basically in the sweet spot. Hackescher Markt is maybe a ten-minute walk, so you've got the S-Bahn connections sorted, but you're far enough from the tourist madness that you can actually hear yourself think. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of locals grabbing coffee at the corner spots and just enough visitors to keep things interesting. I loved that I could walk to Museum Island in about fifteen minutes, or head the other way toward Rosenthaler Platz for dinner without ever needing to figure out the U-Bahn. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you're driving – it's Berlin, so that's just how it goes – but honestly, you won't need a car much from here anyway. The staff knows the area inside and out too, which is refreshing. Instead of generic recommendations, they'll tell you which bakery actually has the best pretzels (it's the one two blocks down, not the touristy one on the corner) and when to avoid the crowds at the nearby galleries. It's the kind of place where the 9-point rating makes total sense once you've spent a night or two there – not because everything is flashy or over-the-top, but because all the details just work the way they should.

Great apartment with an amazing location

Location right next to the S Bahn and tram station. Only 3 tram stops from Hauptbahnhof

What could be improved: It could be a bit loud from the outside but it wasn’t a big problem for us

Great apartment in an amazing location

Excellent location, in a walking distance to Alexander Platz and all the cool stores, coffees and restaurants.

What could be improved: Pillows and matrices.

Berlin condo close to tram and has everything you need.

The location was jut outside the Nordbanhopf tram. It was easy to get around. The bar across the way was nice. The unit was clean and there were enough items to cook(if you wanted to) and a coffee maker.

What could be improved: The only downside to this apartment was the smell of the bathroom. There is a pungent smell that comes from the shower which is a wet shower. After 3 days, it doesn't fully dry and the bathroom area smells like sewer unless you close the door. If was palpable, but otherwise this place would have been a 10
