Estrel Berlin
About
You know what caught me off guard about the Estrel Berlin? The sheer size of this place – I mean, we're talking about what's actually Europe's largest hotel, and honestly, when you first walk into that lobby, it hits you. It's this sprawling complex in Neukölln that sort of feels like a small city unto itself, which sounds overwhelming but somehow works. The thing is, most people don't realize the Estrel sits right along the Spree River, so you get these unexpectedly nice water views from certain rooms (definitely worth asking for when you check in). The whole area has this interesting vibe – you're not in touristy Mitte, but you're still well-connected to everything that matters.
What I really appreciate about staying here is how it manages to feel both grand and surprisingly intimate. Sure, it's got that big conference hotel energy during the week – you'll see plenty of business travelers in dark suits rushing around with their roller bags – but the staff actually knows their stuff and the service feels genuine, not scripted. The rooms are solid four-star territory, nothing fancy but everything works properly, and the beds are actually comfortable (I'm picky about mattresses). The breakfast situation is pretty impressive too, though it can get absolutely mobbed if there's a big event happening, so I'd suggest hitting it either early or after 9:30 when the conference crowds thin out.
Here's the thing about location that most reviews miss – yes, you're about 20 minutes from the central tourist spots, but the S-Bahn connection at Sonnenallee is literally a five-minute walk, and honestly, being in Neukölln gives you a much more authentic Berlin experience. There are some fantastic Turkish restaurants and late-night bars within walking distance that you'd never find staying near Brandenburg Gate. Plus, if you're driving, parking here doesn't cost you an arm and a leg like it would in the city center. The trade-off is that you won't stumble back to your hotel after a night out in Kreuzberg – you'll need to plan your route home. But for the price point and the fact that you get legitimate space to spread out (their standard rooms are pretty generous), it's a smart choice, especially if you're in Berlin for more than just a quick weekend trip.
Visitors often choose Berlin apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent German capital.

Very nice rooms and a good value.
It was clean and had a nice bath
We liked the room; it was spacious, had a great cozy bed, and surprised with a good view. The staff was really helpful and friendly. I loved that the hotel has digital check-in and check-out, but they are also happy to help when check-in happens in person. The coffee we had was delicious. It is especially wonderful that the hotel allows guests to stay with pets. Another thing I would like to mention is the art around the hotel, it captures your attention and makes the overall experience more interesting.
The hotel was very nice, it is a big one with a variety of restaurants just at the lobby. The hotel is also a business center, so it has quite an infrastructure. Not so far from the city center around 15min by S-Bahn.
Location is not bad, allowed dog for 10 EUR per night. Gym equips were enough for 3 days, availability of spa. Big parking (nearby the hotel is additional parking but cheaper - 12 EUR per day)
The room was comfortable and had enough space. We enjoyed the coffee and pizza downstairs.
Convenient location, lot of space , restaurants, bars inside the building.
Price is good. Lobby is beautiful. Parking provided.
