About

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Ferienwohnung Friedrichshagen, I'll be honest — I wasn't expecting much from a three-star place. But this little gem on Am Goldmannpark completely changed my mind. The building sits quietly in one of Berlin's most underrated neighborhoods, and you immediately get this sense that you've stumbled onto something locals have been keeping to themselves. There's free parking right on site, which honestly feels like winning the lottery in Berlin.

The Friedrichshagen Advantage

Here's what most tourists don't realize — Friedrichshagen is where Berliners actually go to escape the city without leaving it. You're in Treptow-Köpenick, which sounds intimidating if you don't know the area, but it's actually this peaceful lakeside district that feels worlds away from the tourist crowds. The Müggelsee is literally a short walk away, and I mean, where else can you have a proper lake day and still be in Berlin? The S-bahn connection gets you to the city center in about 30 minutes, but honestly, you might not want to leave.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself surprised me with how thoughtfully it's set up. You get a proper kitchen — not some tiny kitchenette situation — which means you can actually cook if you want to. The room feels more spacious than typical Berlin accommodations, and there's this nice balance between being functional and comfortable. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything is; you're not dealing with paper-thin walls or street noise that keeps you up all night. The whole place just feels... well, livable, which is exactly what you want when you're staying somewhere for more than a night or two.

Local Secrets

The location rating of 9.7 isn't just numbers on a screen — it's because you're positioned perfectly to explore what locals call "Berlin's best-kept secret." Friedrichshagen has this charming old town feel with the Bölschestraße pedestrian zone, where you'll find actual neighborhood cafés and shops that aren't trying to separate tourists from their money. The weekly market is genuinely good, and if you're into beer (this is Germany, after all), the local brewery scene here is fantastic. Plus, being near Goldmannpark means you've got green space right outside your door.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.5 rating from couples makes total sense once you spend time here. There's something romantic about being tucked away in this lakeside neighborhood — you can take evening walks along the water, find cozy spots for dinner, and actually have conversations without shouting over traffic. The whole area feels more intimate than central Berlin, but you're not sacrificing anything in terms of access or amenities. It's the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because you've accidentally found your temporary Berlin home base, and honestly, that's not the worst problem to have.

Host, Claudia was super friendly, and the family dogs and cat were friendly and fun to spend time with. The location was fantastic; super close to station (only 30 mins to central Berlin) and in a beautiful tree lined street. I enjoyed reading in the garden after a long day. Fully self contained, but great to have a friendly face around too.
