Frankfurter Tor
About
You know what? I wasn't expecting much from Frankfurter Tor when I first booked it – honestly, the name made me think it was going to be some generic business hotel. But this little 3-star place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It sits right in the heart of Friedrichshain, and I mean literally at one of Berlin's most iconic spots where Karl-Marx-Allee meets Warschauer Straße. The twin towers of the actual Frankfurter Tor are right there, which sounds touristy but is actually pretty cool when you're stumbling back from a night out in the area.
The thing that struck me first was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their neighborhood – not in that rehearsed concierge way, but like they actually live around here. When I asked about getting to Berghain (because, you know, Berlin), the guy at the front desk gave me this knowing look and actual useful advice about timing and backup plans. The rooms are what you'd expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent WiFi that doesn't cut out every five minutes. Nothing fancy, but the windows are surprisingly good at blocking out street noise, which matters because Warschauer can get pretty lively, especially on weekends. I actually slept better here than at some pricier places I've stayed in Mitte.
What really won me over was the location without that whole "conveniently located" nonsense – I mean, you're a two-minute walk from Warschauer Straße station, so you can be in Kreuzberg or Prenzlauer Berg in no time. But more importantly, you're surrounded by some of Berlin's best kept secrets. There's this little Turkish place around the corner that serves incredible döner until 3 AM, and Simon-Dach-Straße with all its bars is basically your backyard. The East Side Gallery is close enough for a morning walk, but far enough that you're not dealing with tour groups outside your window. I spent one afternoon just wandering the side streets and kept finding these random street art pieces and tiny cafés that definitely aren't in any guidebook. The hotel might not have all the bells and whistles of those big chain places, but sometimes that's exactly what you want – somewhere comfortable and unpretentious that lets you actually experience the city instead of hiding from it.

Great location just outside of Frankfurter Tor U-Bahn station. The appartmant is big, comfortable and located in a beautiful building and neiborhood. We were welcomed by Natalia and she was very helpful and explanatory about the serrounding and made sure we've got everything we needed.
Spacious and comfortable. Equipped with all the essentials, shampoo, body wash, tea, coffee, sugar, condiments. Great location very close to Frankfurter Tor u bahn and lift to subway as we had a wheelchair user in our group. Lift in our building but, for information, there are 3 steps to the level the lift is on.
Very clean, large and well equipped. 1' by the metro
This apartment was fantastic for our week-long stay! The location is great, not city center but with easy access to public transportation. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, from kitchen essentials to cozy beds. The host was also amazing! He was incredibly kind and responsive, making sure we had everything we needed and offering helpful tips for exploring the city.
Great location very close to the U Bahn station so easy to get around the city. The apartment was really good for two couples - space to chill out and relax after lots of sightseeing!N?A
A very nice apartment just next to a big street in Easter Berlin. The building itself is a very interesting piece of architecture. Besides, there is a great support from the owner and the apartment has everything you need for a longer stay!
