Garner Hotel Berlin – Charlottenburg, an IHG Hotel
About
Look, I'll be honest with you – when I first walked up to the Garner Hotel on Franklinstraße, I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes being understated works in your favor. This IHG property sits in a pretty sweet spot in Charlottenburg, and I mean that literally – you're tucked away from the tourist madness but still close enough to actually do things. The building itself has that classic Berlin apartment block vibe, which I actually prefer to those generic glass boxes you see everywhere now.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth (no weird upselling tactics), and the front desk guy actually gave me useful recommendations – not just the obvious tourist traps but places where locals hang out. The rooms are... well, they're what you'd expect for the price point, honestly. Clean, functional, decent beds. Nothing fancy, but I slept well and the shower had proper water pressure, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I've stayed. The Wi-Fi actually worked throughout the building too – I know that sounds basic, but you'd be surprised how many hotels mess that up.
Here's the thing about staying in this part of Charlottenburg – you're really living like a Berliner for a few days. There's this great Turkish bakery just around the corner where I grabbed coffee every morning (way better than hotel coffee, trust me), and you can walk to the Spree in about ten minutes if you want to jog along the water. The neighborhood gets quiet at night, which was perfect after long days exploring the city. U-Bahn access is solid – Mierendorffplatz station is close, so getting to Mitte or Kreuzberg is pretty straightforward. Parking was actually manageable if you're driving, which is rare for Berlin. I mean, the 7.9 rating makes sense to me – it's not trying to be something it isn't, but it delivers on what matters. Would I stay here again? Yeah, probably. Especially if I wanted to experience Berlin without paying tourist prices for everything within walking distance.

Nice place, friendly staff, central area and well connected
Missing a complementary coffe machine in the room, but the rest was perfect
Superb
The hotel was great, super clean and the staff were lovely.
Very good
The location is good, comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom.
Although the price of the breakfast was included in the final price of the apartment, it was charged again in the morning during the check out. Although it was clear at the Booking.com website that the price of the breakfast was included, according to the employee, it was not possible to see at his computer. And I would have to pay cash. The second thing that I didn't like much: € 9,50 for a glass of white wine that was awful, that I even couldn't drink, was a little bit too expensive.
Comfy stay, amazing value
Comfy bed, good climate control, quiet, breakfast was just right, friendly and competent staff.
Shower was a bit small, no hair conditioner (bring your own), probably need to hire more staff as there's too much work for the number of people.
I like ur environment
Bed and rest room
Elevator far from the room.
Superb
Good for the price, clean and tidy
Breakfast is too expensive
Good
Good hotel Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Had great discussions. Breakfast was very good
No drinking water, coffee station or telephone in the room. I requested for a double but instead I got two small beds pushed together!
Nice
It was very nice and the area is really good.
The remote control for tv was not working. Wi-fi was also not working at all.
It's an exceptional experience
The hotel is nearby the shop and restaurants especially in the embassy which is my important purpose to go there.
