Generator Berlin Mitte
About
Look, I'll be straight with you about Generator Berlin Mitte – it's one of those places that gets the basics right without trying to be something it's not. Walking up to the entrance on Oranienburger Strasse, you immediately get that this isn't your typical stuffy hotel. The building has this industrial-meets-modern vibe that actually works pretty well in Mitte, and honestly, the location is kind of perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying Unter den Linden prices.
What I really appreciated was how they've managed to create spaces that feel social without being chaotic. The lobby area has this relaxed energy where you'll see a mix of business travelers checking emails and backpackers planning their next move – and somehow it doesn't feel forced or overly curated like some places try to do. The rooms themselves are clean and functional, though don't expect luxury touches. I mean, for a 3-star place, they've got the essentials covered: decent wifi, comfortable beds, and bathrooms that actually have proper water pressure (you'd be surprised how many Berlin hotels mess this up). The design leans minimalist, which works because it means there's less stuff to break or look dated in a few years.
Here's what you should know about the neighborhood – Oranienburger Strasse puts you right in the heart of historic Mitte, literally a few minutes' walk from the synagogue and all that history, but you're also close enough to the grittier parts that make Berlin interesting. You can walk to Museum Island in about 15 minutes, or head the other direction toward the alternative scene around Rosenthaler Platz. The U-Bahn connections are solid too – Oranienburger Tor station is right there, so getting around the city is pretty straightforward. One thing worth mentioning is that this area can get busy during weekend evenings, so if you're a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. But honestly, that's part of staying in central Berlin – you're trading some quiet for being where the action is. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me because it delivers on what it promises without any major surprises, good or bad. It's the kind of place where you'll sleep well, start your day with decent coffee, and spend most of your time exploring the city anyway.

Superb
Great location. Staff were friendly. Clean
No curtains on beds. Limited washing and drying machines.
Superb
I strongly recommend for simple guests! Close to the train station and the City Center ! Breakfast is good !
So many students celebrating all night long…The hostel doesn’t have rules for Silence after 10pm…
Great location, near popular places.
Great location for walking around the popular areas.
Too crowded due to the summer break.
Would recommend.
Very central location and easy to get elsewhere. Felt very safe as two 18 year old girls. Rooms were very clean, quite sociable.
It’s quite a noisy hostel.
Very good
Very nice room, and location.
No AC in the room, was hot in the night
Had a great time!
The staff were very kind and the pods were very comfortable for a short solo trip and I enjoyed my stay there:) it was quiet there most of the time which I loved and the food was okay , I wish it was possible to pay with cash too and not only by card
Very good
Great location, room was a good size.
Was very hot in the rooms, we had a courtyard facing room so couldn't keep the window open as the noise from the ground echoed up and was very loud.
Fine for money, wouldn’t recommend but it did the job, we were happy enough.
It was close to a tram stop and an underground stop, and the room was clean.
The beds in our private 4 person room, 2 of them didn’t have sockets near them, despite there being lamps there, there was no where to plug these lamps in without completely moving them or anywhere to charge your phone beside the bed (these were the non bunk beds). No kitchen. No air conditioning. Cafe downstairs is very expensive especially for a hostel. Also you have to pay €9 to use the washer/dryer but they didn’t provide any detergent or anything. Also there was a sign in our en suite bathroom to ask reception for a hairdryer but they just directed us to the public bathrooms to use the hair dryer.
Good facilities. Easy to meet people. Good price. Room was large. Bathroom had a bad smell
The room was large, and the bathroom was good. Lots of space. Good price.
The room had like a funky smell that came from the bathroom and that wasn't the nicest.
Great Value of Money 👍
Everything was good and perfect
The Wifi was not working properly only.
