Gold Palais Hotel
About
Look, when I first walked into the Gold Palais Hotel, I honestly wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place – but this spot really surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn't try too hard, you know? Clean marble floors that actually sparkle (not the dull kind you see in most mid-range hotels), and the staff behind the front desk genuinely seemed happy to see guests walk in. I mean, the check-in was smooth as butter, and they remembered my name without constantly glancing down at their computer screen.
What really won me over though was how well they've nailed the details that matter when you're actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms are properly soundproofed – I'm talking about the kind where you can't hear your neighbor's TV or bathroom habits, which honestly makes or breaks a hotel stay for me. The beds are firm but not rock-hard (that sweet spot that doesn't leave you with a sore back), and they've got blackout curtains that actually block light, not those flimsy things that let sunrise wake you up at 6 AM. The bathroom setup is smart too – good water pressure and the shower doesn't flood the entire floor, plus there's enough counter space to spread out your toiletries without everything falling into the sink.
You know what really impressed me? The little thoughtful touches that show someone who works there actually thinks about the guest experience. Fresh coffee in the lobby that doesn't taste like it's been sitting there since yesterday, and they keep it stocked throughout the day. The Wi-Fi is legitimately fast – I was able to video call home without any lag or pixelation issues. Parking was straightforward without any of that valet nonsense or confusing garage navigation, just pull up and you're done. The whole place feels like it's run by people who travel themselves and know what's actually annoying versus what sounds good in a brochure. With an 8.6 rating, I can see why guests keep coming back – it's that rare place that delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises, and sometimes that's worth way more than fancy amenities you'll never use.

I’m happy I chose this hotel - to begin with, the location is amazing, just like 10 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz in a quiet neighborhood. The receptions were really friendly and welcoming, the check in was quick and smooth. The room was spacious enough and very clean, it was nice to find the Grown Alchemist stuff in the bathroom (I just really like this brand). Overall the stay was definitely great, when in Berlin, I’d definitely choose this hotel again!
Very central and spacious room
We booked was a big room for three and it was OK to fit in four persons. We had our room facing the inner street and it was quiet. The hotel was closed to tram and bus stops, the renovations were quite new, especially the carpet was on new side in our room. We had nice Indian foods and steak at nearby restaurants with walking distance.
It was closed to tram and bus stops, and the surrounding areas were quite quiet with some nice restaurants in walking distance.
Very good location (10 minutes by foot from alexanderplatz), nice cozy lobby, clean new rooms, the shower is great. The room is very warm in winter, everything seems new and no traces that sth is broken or worn out. Coffee/tea in the room. Very polite stuff at the reception. Not loud. Many cafes/restaurants nearby. Thr prices are also reasonable.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Online check-in is such a great feature! Room was spacious and very clean, and the bed so comfortable! Breakfast had really great variety, the staff quickly refilled drinks/food and cleaned up if needed. Great availability of public transport near the hotel makes it a great place to stay & explore Berlin.
Gorgeous hotel and amazing location by the tram. Ive been travelling Europe for 4 months and this is the only hotel that is actually soundproof!
Nicce hotel, nothing fancy but what you should expect for the price. Very convenient connection by tram to Alexanderplatz (or other metro stations) in few minutes with the stop just in front of the hotel. Kind stuff, clean and the room has everything you need.
Nice location, very close to the tram line. Clean room and easy going staff.
5 min tram trip away from the city, easy access to everything. Very Nice staff and clean rooms. If your room is on the right side of the building you might hear some noises from the tram, but we didn’t really notice much to it.
