Good Morning Berlin City West
About
Look, I'll be honest with you – Good Morning Berlin City West isn't going to win any design awards, but there's something genuinely refreshing about a hotel that doesn't try too hard. When I first pulled up to Kögelstraße (and yes, I had to ask for directions twice because GPS gets weird in this part of Reinickendorf), my initial thought was "well, this is... practical." The building has that straightforward German efficiency vibe – clean lines, no unnecessary frills, the kind of place where you know the shower will actually have decent water pressure.
What I actually love about this spot is how authentically Berlin it feels, you know? You're not in some tourist bubble in Mitte where every café charges €8 for coffee. Instead, you're in a proper residential neighborhood where real Berliners live their lives. There's this fantastic Turkish bakery literally two minutes away that opens at 6 AM – I mean, the smell of fresh simit drifting down the street is honestly better than any hotel breakfast buffet. The U-Bahn connection at Residenzstraße gets you into the city center in about 25 minutes, which sounds like a lot until you realize you're paying half what you'd spend staying in Charlottenburg, and the trains run frequently enough that you're never really stranded out here. I actually found myself enjoying these little commutes – gave me time to people-watch and figure out what actual Berliners wear (spoiler: a lot more black than you'd expect).
The rooms themselves are exactly what you'd expect from a solid 3-star place. Clean, functional, with that particular brand of German minimalism that either clicks with you or doesn't. The beds are firm – really firm, which took me a night to adjust to but actually helped my travel-weary back. Staff at reception speak excellent English, though they appreciate when you at least attempt "Guten Tag" (I learned this the hard way). Here's the thing about the 7.3 rating – it's actually pretty spot-on. This isn't a place that'll blow your mind, but it won't disappoint you either. The Wi-Fi works reliably, the heating keeps the room properly warm during those surprisingly chilly Berlin evenings, and checkout is refreshingly drama-free. If you're the type of traveler who spends most of your time exploring the city anyway, you'll appreciate having a comfortable, no-nonsense base that doesn't eat up half your budget. Plus, there's something to be said for staying somewhere that feels connected to actual Berlin life rather than tourist Berlin – though I'll admit, explaining to friends that you're staying in Reinickendorf requires a bit more geographical context than saying "near Brandenburg Gate."

Great breakfast , comfy beds and very friendly staff!
If you are sensitive to carpets in room, could be a topic.
Very enjoyable stay
Very comfortable and clean and in a nice location quite close to the Ubahn U6. Nice staff too! Good value hotel for the price, highly recommended.
There is no hair dryer in the room, and some of the windows do not open properly.
Excellent value for money. Would stay there again.
Staff were very nice and cooperative. Room was very clean, including bed and towels.
One of the bathroom tiles fell out but it didn’t cause much of a problem.

Nice short stay in Berlin
I stayed at City Hotel Berlin for one night and had a wonderful experience. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable, making for a pleasant stay. The staff at the front desk were friendly and very helpful, which made check-in and check-out smooth and hassle-free. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great short stay in Berlin.
Very comfortable stay
Clean, good breakfast and very friendly staff!
Location - but we walked a lot and didn’t mind. You can also use public transport which is nearby
Excellent choice for people who spend a lot of time out of the hotel and use the hotel for rest
Great locating, nice staff, lovely room - great to reag
Tobacco Smell was a bit intense and some ocasional loud sounds at night
Very good
The solo room was about 15m2. One bed. There was a TV with YouTube. No Netflix access. One big mirror and a closet with a safe. One glass table and a chair. Table lamp. The wifi was good. Bed clothing was fresh and clean. Towels were provided. Shampoo was good. But no toothpaste was provided. Tissue rolls were provided. The room I was sleeping had the window directed towards a nice garden. Hair dryer was also there.
The bathroom was old fashioned.
Good
Spacious room with large windows and a desk. Nice area close to public transit (bus 2min walk, U6 u-bahn 10min walk), very helpful staff
Cleaners entered my room even though I put a sign on the door asking not to. Shower drain smelled bad.
