About this stay

About

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment you walk into the Great 1-room Loft on Stübbenstraße, it actually feels bigger than you'd expect from the name. I mean, sure, it's technically one room, but whoever designed this space really knew what they were doing – there's this clever way the living area flows into the sleeping space without feeling cramped or awkward.

The location is honestly pretty perfect if you're trying to get a feel for real Berlin life. Tempelhof-Schöneberg isn't one of those tourist-heavy neighborhoods where you're constantly dodging selfie sticks, but you're still close enough to everything that matters. The U-Bahn station is maybe a seven-minute walk (I timed it because I'm weird like that), and there's this fantastic little bakery just around the corner on Hauptstraße that locals actually go to – not one of those overpriced tourist traps. The whole area has this lived-in vibe that I really appreciated, especially in the evenings when people are just going about their normal routines.

What really sold me on this loft, though, was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The kitchen area – and I hesitate to call it just a "kitchenette" because it's more functional than some full kitchens I've seen – has everything you'd actually need if you want to grab groceries from the nearby Edeka and cook something real instead of eating out every night. The bed situation is comfortable (I'm picky about mattresses), and there's decent natural light during the day without being blindingly bright in the morning. Actually, the whole place stays pretty quiet despite being on a fairly active street – the windows do their job well. Check-in was straightforward too, none of that complicated key-pickup-from-three-different-locations nonsense that some Berlin rentals put you through. The 8.8 rating makes sense to me; it's not trying to be some luxury experience, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you're the type of traveler who wants a genuine neighborhood feel and a space that works for more than just sleeping, this spot hits that sweet spot between authentic and actually comfortable.

All in all, a charming apartment in a quite residential area. Would love to return !

The charming loft apartment is just off of U. Bayerischerplatz and is blessed with a quaint little cafe across the street with excellent cappucino, and an outstanding greek taverna nearby. High ceilings give the place an airy feel - and the loft sofa can be fun for those with younger minds (^^. The towel rack and warmer works great - it dries the towel in a short time. The host is perhaps the best part of this apartment - Benjamin is very responsive to all your questions and helpful at all times. In fact, he's so handy that you want to contact him on a messenger instead of bulletin boards !

What could be improved: Not really "not like's as such, but things that might be "nice to add" - would include a microwave, and may be few bowls (eg small bowls that could be used for salads and such), and may be a salad sieve, that could be used to rinse leafy vege. Using he NUKI key on the apartment door can be tricky, as you have to get used to pulling the door while it unlocks (the door is a little ajar, as you find in many apartments) - but there is always the backup physical key. Also, the large radiator in the apartment works great in the daytime but because the building boiler shuts down at night, some guests may find the room a little chillier than they might otherwise want, but it comes with the building so not much you can do.

perfect for holidays in berlin

Nice studio apartment, super clean space, separate entrance, lovely host. Quite peaceful, considering it's on the first floor

Good

The loft is well arranged, very well equipped with coffee machine, boiler, chairs and table, cutlery etc. A complimentary small wine bottle with two chocolates was giving us a smile. The position is very central in Berlin, but the location directly on the street makes it overall a bit noisy, particularly in the early morning when the garbage collection begins...

What could be improved: Unfortunately, the toilet flush was smelling really badly. Also the flush had not the necessary momentum, but from the very beginning and even with clean toilet, the smell of sewage filled the room. Given that the price is not exactly cheap, we would have expected a more accurate check before our arrival.
