H2 Hotel Berlin-Alexanderplatz
About
Look, I'll be honest - when I first walked into the H2 Hotel Berlin-Alexanderplatz, I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the mid-range spots surprise you in the best way possible. This place sits right in the thick of things near Alexanderplatz, which means you're literally a few minutes' walk from the TV Tower (that massive concrete needle you can't miss) and all the chaos of Berlin's most touristy square. The thing is, once you duck inside the hotel, it actually feels like a refuge from all that street-level madness.
The rooms are what I'd call "smart small" - they've clearly thought about how to make limited space work without feeling cramped. The design leans modern without trying too hard, and honestly, after spending days wandering around Berlin's mix of historic grandeur and Soviet-era concrete blocks, there's something refreshing about clean lines and a bed that doesn't creak when you move. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, considering you're surrounded by tram lines and the constant hum of city life. I mean, you'll still hear Berlin being Berlin if you open the windows, but the rooms are surprisingly well-insulated. The shower pressure is solid too - not always a given in European hotels, let me tell you.
Here's the thing about staying near Alexanderplatz that the guidebooks don't really capture: yes, it's touristy and a bit overwhelming during the day, but you're also incredibly well-connected to everywhere else you want to go. The U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations are right there, so getting to Kreuzberg for dinner or over to Museum Island takes maybe fifteen minutes max. Plus, and this is something I only figured out after a couple of days, some of Berlin's best late-night döner spots are tucked into the streets just behind the hotel - the kind of places where locals actually eat after midnight. The hotel staff seemed to get this too; they had that casual Berlin vibe where they'd give you real recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the nearest Hard Rock Cafe. The 8.2 rating makes sense when you add it all up - it's not trying to be fancy, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you're exploring a city like Berlin. You get a comfortable base, you're not breaking the bank, and you can stumble home easily after discovering why Berliners think the night doesn't really start until 2 AM.

Very helpful staff, great location, clear vegan labelling at breakfast.
Location of the hotel was great and personnel was nice. A nice addition was also a parking garage where we were able to leave our car for affordable fee..
Perfect place for your stay in Berlin!
Yes I thought the room was very comfortable and clean. The lady at reception was very efficient when i arrived and check in was straightforward. I enjoyed the breakfast and thought it was well laid out and had pretty much all you could want. The hotel is a short walk from Alexanderplatz. I've stayed here before and no doubt will again when I'm in Berlin.
Location good, staff good, food good all in all enjoyable experience
Location and great breakfast
The hotel is located close to Alexandarplatz; 5-6 minutes away from the subway station and bus / tram stops. The staff was friendly and polite. The room, corridors, lift and the breakfast hall were always clean. Breakfast would satisfy most of the people; but there weren’t many savory options, there were more sweet options. There was a seating area in front of the hotel for the smokers.
Room, staff, location and breakfast. All was very good!
