Haus am See
About
First Impressions
You know what struck me first about Haus am See? The name literally means "house by the lake," and honestly, it's not just marketing speak. This three-star property sits in the Treptow-Köpenick district of Berlin, and while it's not directly lakefront, you're close enough to the Spree and various waterways that the whole area has this peaceful, almost suburban feel. I mean, you're still in Berlin, but it feels like you've escaped the tourist crowds without actually leaving the city.
Location & Getting Around
Here's the thing about Treptow-Köpenick — it's one of those Berlin districts that locals love but tourists often overlook. The parking situation alone makes this place worth considering; free private parking on-site is practically gold in Berlin. You're about 30 minutes from Mitte by S-Bahn, which actually works in your favor because you get to see how real Berliners live. The area around Adlergestell has this mix of residential quiet and easy access to both nature and the city center that couples seem to really appreciate — they've rated the location 8.6, which honestly makes sense once you're there.
The Room Experience
I'll be straight with you — the beds are genuinely comfortable. Like, surprisingly so for a three-star place. The rooms are clean and functional, with that German efficiency you'd expect, though don't go in expecting fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy design. What you get is solid comfort and really good sleep, which, let's face it, matters more than marble bathrooms when you're exploring Berlin all day. The room sizes are decent too — not cramped like some city hotels can be.
The Neighborhood Vibe
Treptow-Köpenick feels different from central Berlin — there's more green space, the pace is slower, and you'll find yourself near Treptower Park, which is perfect for morning walks or evening runs. The area has this authentic Berlin residential feel that you miss when you stay in Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg. There are local cafes and small restaurants nearby that don't cater to tourists, so you actually get to experience how locals eat and drink. It's the kind of neighborhood where you might find yourself extending your morning coffee just to people-watch.
Why Guests Love It
The combination really works here — you get the peace and quiet for a good night's sleep (those highly-rated beds aren't a fluke), free parking that saves you both money and hassle, and a location that feels authentically Berlin without the tourist markup. Recent guests consistently rate it highly, and I think it's because the place delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it's not. If you're the type who wants to explore Berlin but also values having a quiet retreat to return to, and especially if you're traveling as a couple, this spot hits that sweet spot between accessibility and tranquility.

The location next to the lake was amazing. Also the interior , it’s newly renovated and very tasteful furnited. The kitchen had a coffee machine and boiler and was fully equipped.
We were so pleased to have chosen to stay here. The Havel apartment was so spacious and had everything we needed, a very well equipped kitchen, modern bathroom with excellent large shower. Absolutely spotless and renovated to a very high standard. Lovely and cool in the apartment despite 30 plus deg outside. Very quiet. Fabulous terrace, immaculate garden with many places to sit and enjoy the view of the marina, also sun loungers. Plenty of parking with secure gated parking to the rear. The house is a beautiful building. An excellent Italian restaurant just across the road and a 5 minute walk to the supermarket.
Location and price. Access to public transport.
Although the support was via remote phone call, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The area of the property, the privacy, the views of being basically on the water, and the cleanliness/security of the stay were amazing.
Nice new refurbished hotel in a beautiful quite place.
