Homely Berlin – Library Style , Wooden Walls , Spacious , Friedrichshain
About
You know what struck me first about Homely Berlin? The name actually makes sense once you step inside. I mean, most hotels with "homely" in the name are trying way too hard, but this place in Friedrichshain genuinely feels like staying in someone's really well-designed apartment – if that someone happened to be a librarian with excellent taste and a thing for warm wood paneling.
The whole library concept isn't just some gimmick they slapped on for Instagram points. Walking into the lobby, you're surrounded by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves (actual books, not fake ones), and those wooden walls have this rich, lived-in quality that somehow makes the high ceilings feel cozy instead of imposing. The rooms are honestly more spacious than you'd expect for Berlin – I could actually open my suitcase without playing furniture Tetris, which is saying something. What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being right on Proskauer Straße. The wooden walls must do something for sound insulation because even with the windows open, you're not getting the full symphony of late-night Friedrichshain revelry.
Speaking of location – and I know everyone says this – but being on Proskauer puts you in this sweet spot where you can walk to Boxhagener Platz for the weekend markets in about eight minutes, or hit up the Spree for a riverside beer in the other direction. The whole Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg thing means you're technically in the heart of Berlin's alternative scene, but this particular stretch doesn't feel overwhelming if you're not necessarily here to party until 6 AM every night. There's a decent döner place literally next door (the owner knows like five words of English but makes incredible lamb), and the U-Bahn connection at Frankfurter Tor is close enough that getting to Mitte or anywhere else is pretty painless. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no complicated key card systems, just "here's your room, the library stays open until midnight, help yourself to coffee." The staff actually seem to know the neighborhood, too, which sounds basic but you'd be surprised how rare that is. Honestly, for a 4-star place with a 9 rating, I was expecting to find some catch, but the only minor thing is that the wooden aesthetic means lighting can be a bit dim if you're trying to read in bed – though given the library theme, maybe that's intentional encouragement to actually use the common areas.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Berlin through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city's rich historical heritage.

Location, interiors ad spacious rooms
It had all new appliances. The dish washer wasn’t connected yet. But I’m sure this is already fixed.
Superb
En riktigt stilren och fin lägenhet i ett trevligt område. Nära till restauranger och shopping. Bra parkering och nära till tunnelbana och spårvagn. Hit åker vi gärna igen.
Har inget att klaga på.
