Hotel AMANO East Side
About
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel AMANO East Side? It's actually cooler than most places trying to be cool. I mean, the location alone – right there on Stralauer Platz where Friedrichshain meets the Spree – puts you in this perfect sweet spot that's buzzing but not touristy. When you walk out the front door, you're literally steps from Oberbaumbrücke (that gorgeous brick bridge everyone photographs), and honestly, the hotel feels like it belongs in this artsy, slightly gritty neighborhood rather than trying to gentrify it.
The building itself has this industrial-chic thing going on, but it doesn't feel forced. The lobby's got these high ceilings and concrete elements that actually work – sort of reminds me of a well-designed loft that someone's friend might have in Brooklyn, if that makes sense. Check-in was surprisingly smooth for a place that clearly gets a lot of international visitors, and the staff seemed to genuinely know the area. I asked about getting to Warschauer Straße (the S-Bahn station that's your gateway to everywhere), and they didn't just point me toward Google Maps – they mentioned which exit to use and warned me about the weekend crowds heading to the clubs along the river.
What I really appreciated was how the place feels authentic to Berlin without trying too hard. The rooms are clean and modern without being sterile, and you can actually open the windows (revolutionary concept, I know). If you're facing the river side, you'll catch glimpses of the Spree and that whole East Side Gallery scene. The neighborhood gets lively – especially Thursday through Sunday when people are hitting up the bars along Revaler Straße – but the hotel's positioned just far enough back that you're not dealing with street noise all night. During the day, you've got Boxhagener Platz market within walking distance (Saturdays are crazy busy, just so you know), and the whole RAW-Gelände complex with its clubs and food stalls is basically around the corner. I ended up spending way more time just wandering the immediate area than I planned because there's this constant mix of locals grabbing coffee, street art that's actually interesting, and enough bars and restaurants that you could eat somewhere different every night for a week. The 8.4 rating makes sense – it's the kind of place that delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises, and honestly, it nails that balance of being comfortable enough for business travelers but interesting enough that you'd recommend it to friends visiting Berlin for the first time.
Visitors often choose Berlin apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent German capital.

It is erect if you attend a gig at Parkbühne Wuhlheide.
We were in town for a concern that was in Parkbühne Wuhlheide so we chose the hotel somewhere in between the venue and the city center. This was a great choses it was close to the train station with trains in every direction we needed to go. Room was nice, clean and quiet. Bathroom good size with hot water. There is a nice restaurant on the ground floor serving Italian and tasty cocktails. Staff was very friendly and professional. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Good location, walkable to everything we needed. Lovely outside terrace for breakfast and evening drinks. Great showers.
The rooms are dark and could be better lit.
Very good
Excellent rooftop bar, waiter service excellent.
Couldn’t book twin rooms as “sold out” and therefore had to pay more money for single rooms. However my single room had twin beds! A bit annoying.
