Hotel Castell am Kurfürstendamm
About
Look, I'll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Castell am Kurfürstendamm, I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place on a quiet side street in Charlottenburg. But you know what? Sometimes these unassuming spots surprise you, and this one actually grew on me during my stay. The location on Wielandstraße is one of those classic Berlin residential streets where you get a real feel for how locals live – tree-lined, peaceful, with those beautiful old apartment buildings that somehow survived everything this city's been through.
What I really appreciated was how the hotel feels genuinely Berlin without trying too hard. The staff speaks that perfect mix of German efficiency and casual friendliness, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the good bakery around the corner (trust me, skip the touristy cafés on Ku'damm and grab your morning coffee there instead). The rooms are... well, they're what you'd expect for the price point, but they're clean and comfortable enough, and honestly, the beds are better than some 4-star places I've stayed at. I mean, you're not getting marble bathrooms or fancy toiletries, but everything works, the WiFi is solid, and the windows actually open – which is more than I can say for a lot of chain hotels.
The real charm here is the location, though. You're literally a 5-minute walk from all the Kurfürstendamm action – the shopping, the restaurants, that whole scene – but when you want to escape the tourist crowds, you just duck back onto Wielandstraße and it's like entering a different world. I spent most evenings walking through the quieter parts of Charlottenburg, discovering little wine bars and local spots that you'd never find if you stayed right on the main drag. The U-Bahn connections are decent too (Adenauerplatz is your closest station), so getting to Mitte or Kreuzberg isn't a hassle. Parking can be tricky if you're driving – street parking is mostly resident-only during the day, but the hotel can point you toward a garage about two blocks away. One small thing that bugged me: the walls are a bit thin, so if you're a light sleeper, pack earplugs. But honestly, for the price and the authentic Berlin experience, Hotel Castell delivers exactly what it promises – nothing fancy, just a solid base for exploring one of Europe's most fascinating cities.

Very good
Good location .it was near three subway or tram stops on a quiet side street. The staff were very friendly and helpful with directions. The room was quiet. Wifi had a good signal and was fast. There were a lot of restaurants, cafes and high end shops in the area.
Room was a little dated. Could have used a mini fridge in the room and the hallway floors were a little creaky. Also the sign for the hotel could stand to be a little more obvious. It is easy not to notice it. It would be nice if they had usb plugs in the room.
Very simple but pleasent stay
Location was beautiful
Room was very basic, not much accept a tv two chairs and two beds
A pleasant stay
Nice location. Handy public transport. Cute building. Friendly staff.
A little o repriced for what it was.
Genuine stay like in a hotel museum.
Elevator from 1906 with a wooden cabin and wooden doors. Very delicate lead glass windows. You feel like in a hotel museum. Very quiet at night despite the vicinity of Kurfürstendamm.
A little bit of amenities in the room would be nice. The TV has the size of a laptop screen.
I’ve had a pleasant stay, very well located. Pleasant and helpful stuff.
Very centrally located, close to transport.
No fridge, no coffee making facilities, I was expecting a bigger newer tv screen.
Good
I was clean and in good location
The man at the reception didn't want to speak English with me, so my cousin had to speak German with him. He was nice though
Excellent value at the heart of K Damm in central Berlin. Ideal for shopping and dining.
Excellent location yet quiet and clean.
