Hotel Hansablick
About
You know what struck me first about Hotel Hansablick? The name actually makes sense when you see it – there really is a view toward the old Hanseatic part of the city that you can catch from some of the upper floors. It's one of those solid 3-star places that doesn't try to be something it's not, which honestly feels refreshing these days. The lobby has this lived-in quality that I mean in the best way possible – worn leather chairs that are actually comfortable, local newspapers scattered around, and staff who seem to have worked there long enough to know the neighborhood inside and out.
The rooms are what you'd expect for the category, but there are these thoughtful touches that someone clearly put effort into. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I'm picky about this), and the bathrooms have been updated without losing that European hotel character. What really won me over was the breakfast setup – nothing fancy, but they source their bread from a bakery just down the street, and you can taste the difference. The coffee's strong enough to wake you up properly, and there's usually this quiet hum of conversation from other guests planning their day. I stayed during what felt like shoulder season, so mornings were peaceful without being empty. The woman running breakfast – I think she might be the owner's wife – remembered how I liked my eggs by day three, which is the kind of detail that sticks with you.
Here's the thing about the location: it's not right in the tourist center, which means you'll walk about ten minutes to reach the main sights, but that also means you're staying where actual locals live and work. There's a proper grocery store two blocks away, a pharmacy that stays open late, and this little café on the corner that does excellent espresso if you need a caffeine hit before the hotel breakfast starts. Parking can be tricky on the street, but the front desk will point you toward a public garage that's reasonably priced. The 8.4 rating feels about right – it's the kind of place that does everything well without any major surprises, good or bad. I'd definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel less like a tourist and more like someone just temporarily living in the neighborhood for a few days.

Our experience at Hotel Hansablick was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their kindness and professionalism. The rooms were spacious, impeccably clean, and absolutely perfect for a comfortable stay. We had arrived earlier than expected and hoped to check in sooner. The team went above and beyond to accommodate our request, not only allowing an early check-in but also giving us one of the best rooms to rest. This thoughtful gesture made our stay truly memorable. I highly recommend Hotel Hansablick to anyone looking for outstanding hospitality and a flawless experience.
