Hotel Indigo Berlin – Ku’damm by IHG
About
You know what struck me first about Hotel Indigo Berlin on Ku'damm? It's that perfect sweet spot where you're close enough to everything but not drowning in tourist chaos. I mean, you're literally steps from Kurfürstendamm – Berlin's main shopping drag – but tucked on Hardenbergstraße where it actually gets quiet at night. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels distinctly Berlin, not trying too hard but definitely confident in what it is.
The lobby honestly surprised me with how thoughtfully designed everything was. There's this whole neighborhood story woven throughout the hotel that actually means something – they've really leaned into the Charlottenburg vibe with local art and colors that somehow capture that west Berlin energy without being cheesy about it. My room had these floor-to-ceiling windows that made the space feel huge (which, let's be real, isn't always guaranteed in European hotels), and the bathroom was one of those where you actually want to spend time getting ready. The shower pressure was fantastic – I know that sounds mundane, but after a day walking around Berlin, it matters. One thing though: if you're a super light sleeper, maybe mention it when booking since some rooms face the street side, and while it's not terrible, there's definitely some city hum.
What really sold me on this place was how it sits in the neighborhood. You've got Savignyplatz just a few minutes' walk away – honestly one of my favorite squares in Berlin with those little cafes tucked under the S-Bahn arches. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is right there too, which sounds touristy but it's actually a pretty moving spot, especially in the evening when the lighting hits just right. For practical stuff, the Zoologischer Garten station is close enough that you can easily hop on the S-Bahn to anywhere in the city, but far enough that you're not dealing with the constant flow of people. Oh, and if you're flying in, the airport express stops right at Zoo station – saved me the hassle of figuring out Berlin's somewhat confusing public transport system on arrival day. The staff seemed to genuinely know their neighborhood too, which made a difference when I was looking for a decent späti (that's a late-night corner store, for the uninitiated) or wondering which direction to walk for the best local restaurants. It's that kind of place where the 4-star rating feels honest – comfortable and thoughtful without trying to be something it's not.

All good
Very good
Location close to the train station. Friendly staff. The room has all the facilities you'll need.
Minor issues: My room felt a bit run-down, with visible signs of wear and some things starting to come apart. It would have been nice to have an electric kettle, as the coffee machine couldn’t provide hot water for tea—and I didn’t like any of the coffee capsules provided. The air conditioning was also quite aggressive, making it uncomfortable to leave on. Overall, I expected more for the price.
Overall we enjoyed a nice stay
The hotel has all the facilities needed for a pleasant stay. Our room was modern and design led with bright decor and a comfortable bed, albeit on the small side and a curved shape. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good with a nice selection. There are lots of nice shops, cafes and restaurants within 10 minute walk. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from main HBF Zoological Gardens station which provided fast connectivity with Berlin's central stations and sights on the S-Bahn or main-line trains plus direct connections to Potsdam and and Berlin Airport (c30 minutes).
A cupboard door and toilet seat were loose in our room. We felt that cleaning/vacuuming of the room and landing areas could have been better. The security doors between the lift lobbies and bedroom areas on each floor were often left open during the day which we felt was a risk.
Superb
The location is good, we walked everywhere. Clean rooms, coffee machine with capsules in the room. 2 bottles of water for us. Rewards for being the member. Slippers for us. There were even conditioner and bodylotion there.the beds were very comfortable. No noise even facing the streets.
Actually, nothing, we didn't have the pricy breakfast there.
Excellent, clean and comfortable in an excellent location
When I travel my priorities are: Clean, comfortable room in a good location. This hotel checked all the boxes. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent and offered many options. Locations is near the zoo metro station. The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood (quiet sleep) with good restaurants. But a 5 minute walk you are at the the zoo metro with a lot of affordable and good food options. The shopping district and the Zoo is a short 10 min walk away from the hotel. All floors have 2 lifts, so going up and down was fast and convenient (we were on the top floor).
Superb
The staff were friendly. The personalised welcome arrival card in my room. Free mini bar.
Only small suggestion would be to have a hotel book in the room containing details of the hotel/room/city.
Very good. I would stay again
