Hotel Kaiser
About
Look, I'll be honest – Hotel Kaiser isn't going to blow you away with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but there's something genuinely comfortable about this place that grew on me during my stay. It sits right on Kaiserdamm, which means you're literally a two-minute walk from the Kaiserdamm U-Bahn station, and I mean that literally – I timed it. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Berlin architecture that makes you feel like you're staying somewhere with actual character instead of another glass box hotel.
What really struck me was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Hackescher Markt without dealing with tourist crowds, the guy at reception didn't just hand me a generic map – he sketched out this route through Tiergarten that honestly saved me probably 20 minutes of underground transfers. The rooms are, well, they're what you'd expect from a solid 3-star place. Nothing fancy, but the beds are genuinely comfortable (I'm picky about mattresses), and the windows actually open, which is surprisingly rare these days. You know what I appreciated? The shower had proper water pressure, and the walls weren't paper-thin – I could barely hear my neighbors, even when the hotel seemed pretty full.
The location is where this place really shines, though most people don't realize it at first glance. Sure, Charlottenburg isn't Mitte, but that's actually the point. You're close enough to walk to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in about 15 minutes, but you're also surrounded by actual Berlin life – there's this fantastic bakery called Bäckerei Siebert just around the corner on Suarezstraße that locals line up at every morning, and honestly, their pretzels beat anything I found in the touristy areas. The Lietzensee park is maybe a 10-minute stroll if you want somewhere quiet to decompress, and I stumbled across this weekend market on Klausenerplatz that felt completely authentic – zero tour groups, just families buying vegetables and chatting in rapid German. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who's driven in Berlin will tell you is basically a miracle. The 7.5 rating makes sense to me – it's not luxury, but it does everything it promises to do well, and sometimes that's exactly what you need when you're more interested in exploring the city than hanging around your hotel room.
To book a hotel in Berlin during the famous Berlin International Film Festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts culture enthusiasts and history lovers from around the world.

Very good
Excellent location close to Charlottenburg castle, the U-Bahn station was just next to the hotel. Very clean room. Friendly staff. A lot of information as leaflets and maps of Berlin is available at front desk. The room was very well heated (we visited Berlin in the winter).
The noise from the street traffic, no breakfast is available.
Convenient and simple accommodation
It was exactly in the location where I needed a hotel, so perfect for me. There was a very kind female member of staff when I returned in the evening.
The Velux window blinds weren't working very well.
Clean hotel with a great location in Charlottenburg
My room and especially bathroom were very clean, the location was perfect - walking distance to the Flixbus Station and to Charlottenburg Palace, the subway station was also nearby, some local cafés were near and a good supermarket as well. They also had luggage storage, and it was amazing. My room was also very specious and it faced the the road, but it was not noisy at all.
When I arrived at the hotel the receptionist kept on talking in Russian to here college on the phone about the private matters, she kept on going for a few minutes without acknowledging me in anyway, I guess she didn't expect that I understand Russian). The other receptionist was nice. Also I think the curtains and the fridge are a bit outdated and could be replaced. Everything was nice and by the end I was very happy with the hotel, it's only the 1st impression could be better, otherwise the hotel is great, also for the price, but you know, you only have one chance to make a first impression.
