Hotel Ludwig van Beethoven
About
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Ludwig van Beethoven? It's actually got character – and I mean that in the best way possible. Tucked into a quiet stretch of Hasenheide in Kreuzberg, this three-star spot feels more like staying at your artsy friend's place than some cookie-cutter chain. The building itself has that Berlin thing going on, where you can't tell if it's been beautifully restored or just naturally weathered into something cool. When I first walked up, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from the outside, but the lobby surprised me – clean lines, decent lighting, and this subtle music theme woven throughout that doesn't hit you over the head with the Beethoven connection.
The location is what really sold me on this place, though. Hasenheide might not ring bells for first-time visitors, but locals know it's perfectly positioned. You're literally a five-minute walk from Südstern U-Bahn station, which means you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without dealing with tourist crowds right outside your door. Plus – and this is something I really appreciated – you're close enough to the action in Kreuzberg proper but far enough from Oranienstraße that you actually get some sleep at night. The park across the way (Hasenheide Park, obviously) is great for morning runs or just escaping the urban intensity for a bit. I spent a couple evenings there watching locals walk their dogs and honestly, it felt more authentically Berlin than half the "must-see" spots tourists flock to.
What impressed me most was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the guy at reception didn't just hand me a generic tourist map – he sketched out a little route to this Turkish place around the corner that doesn't even have English menus but serves incredible döner. The rooms themselves are solid for what you're paying. Nothing fancy, but clean, quiet enough, and the beds are actually comfortable (I'm picky about mattresses). The WiFi works, the shower has decent pressure, and there's enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I mean, it's Berlin – you're not coming here to hang out in your hotel room anyway. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me because it delivers on what matters: good location, fair price, no unpleasant surprises. It's the kind of place where you check in, drop your bags, and head out to explore the city knowing you've got a comfortable base to come back to.

aircondition not so good and no fridge in rhe room
Great location.
They were very kind and let us check in at 7am when we arrived hoping to leave our bags with them. Room spacious. Bed comfortable. Wide variety at breakfast. Great neighbourhood. Very close to underground, supermarket, park and good restaurants in the street.
It doesn’t look much from the street but you will be pleasantly surprised!
Nice kooky but clean with unexpected charges!
Nice location, fantastic interior art…quite futuristic and weird! Good breakfast room. Outdoor area also.
I booked a “double room” or whatever its called for when theres two people…and then they charged me extra for having two people! I would certainly expect that thats implied when one rents a two person room, but BEWARE! Make sure they know before hand or you get the secret HIDDEN CHARGE!
We stay here often. Always good

This is a clean, nice and friendly hotel, the value for money is great!
It’s nothing fancy but it’s probably one of the best value for money places in Berlin. Very nice breakfast, clean and the price seems very reasonable!
The elevator system is a bit fussy, but not a huge deal.
Overall it realy good choice. Recommend
The location was convenient—just 3–5 minutes from Hermannplatz station. The staff were very welcoming, and the breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious options. The beds were clean and comfortable.
It would be great to have more facilities and care products available, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush, shower gel, shampoo, and bath slippers.
Great hotel, breakfast was spectacular, close to the metro - east to get around
