Hotel Lützow
About
You know what? Hotel Lützow surprised me. I'll be honest – when I first walked up to this 3-star place, I wasn't expecting much. The building has that solid, no-nonsense Berlin vibe that grows on you, and once I got inside, I realized the 7.6 rating actually makes perfect sense.
The lobby's got this understated charm that feels authentically German rather than trying too hard to impress tourists. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that fake enthusiasm you get at chain hotels, just efficient service from people who actually seem to know the neighborhood. My room was clean and well-maintained, with those heavy European curtains that actually block out light (seriously, why can't American hotels figure this out?). The beds are firm in that way that might take a night to get used to if you're coming from softer mattresses, but I slept really well. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stayed at night – you're in the city but not dealing with constant street noise or paper-thin walls where you hear every conversation in the hallway.
The area around Lützow is honestly one of those spots that locals love but doesn't make it onto most tourist maps, which worked perfectly for me. You're close enough to the action without being in the thick of tourist chaos, and there are some genuinely good cafes within walking distance where you'll hear more German than English – always a good sign. The hotel staff gave me solid recommendations too, not just the obvious tourist traps but places they'd actually go themselves. Breakfast was simple but fresh, with proper German bread that puts hotel chain offerings to shame. I mean, it's not going to win any awards, but it gets the job done and sets you up for the day. The coffee was surprisingly good – apparently they switched suppliers recently and someone there knows what they're doing. Look, this isn't luxury travel, but sometimes you want a place that just works without all the fuss. If you're the type who needs a concierge and turndown service, keep looking. But if you want a clean, comfortable base in a genuinely local part of the city with staff who treat you like a person rather than a walking credit card, Hotel Lützow delivers exactly what it promises.

Breakfast was nice . Disappointed there was NOT 1 English Channel on the television . I asked at reception & he said they don’t pay for that . Just one channel would have been nice . Please provide more milk for the room . The amount given was very small and just not enough .
Breakfast has a lot of choices and good quality.
