You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Sachsenhof? The moment I walked through those doors on Motzstraße, it felt like I'd stumbled into someone's well-appointed Berlin apartment rather than a typical hotel lobby. The breakfast spot around the corner (I think it was called Café Einstein?) became my daily ritual, and I'd see the same locals every morning reading their newspapers.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. The rooms face away from the main street traffic, so you actually get decent sleep – something that's honestly rare in Berlin hotels. The staff seemed to know their neighborhood inside and out too; they pointed me toward this tiny wine bar on Fuggerstraße that I never would have found otherwise.
