Hotel Tiergarten Berlin
About
You know what struck me first about Hotel Tiergarten Berlin? It's one of those places that doesn't try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top decor, but somehow ends up being exactly what you need. I mean, it's a solid 3-star spot that knows its lane and stays in it – which honestly feels refreshing in a city where so many hotels are either budget hostels or those crazy expensive luxury places with no middle ground. The whole vibe is sort of understated and practical, like the Berlin locals themselves.
The location is actually pretty clever if you think about it. You're right there near Tiergarten (hence the name, obviously), which means you can literally walk into one of Berlin's best parks when you need to escape the city noise. I spent a good chunk of one morning just wandering through there with my coffee – beats sitting in some cramped hotel restaurant, you know? What's really handy is how you can get to the main tourist stuff without feeling like you're staying right in the thick of it. Brandenburg Gate is totally walkable if you don't mind a pleasant stroll, and the S-Bahn connections are solid for when your feet give out. The neighborhood has this nice mix of actual Berliners going about their business and enough cafes and spätkaufs (those little corner stores that are lifesavers) to keep you sorted.
Look, with a 7.2 rating, you're not getting perfection here, but you're getting something better – value that makes sense. The rooms are clean and functional, the kind of place where you can actually get a decent night's sleep without breaking the bank. I noticed the walls aren't exactly soundproof, so if you're a light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs – but honestly, that's pretty standard for this price range in Berlin. The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, which you'd be surprised how rare that can be. Check-in was smooth, none of that pretentious nonsense where they act like they're doing you a favor. What I really appreciated was how they treated it like a business transaction between adults – you need a place to stay, they have rooms, everyone's happy. It's the kind of hotel that works well for people who plan to actually explore Berlin rather than hang out in their room all day, and sometimes that's exactly what you want.

Reasonable price for the single room. Clean and new bathroom. Good location for the price.
Although there was no kettle in the room, hot water can be obtained for free from a machine on the ground floor.

Decoration of the hotel is really nice and heartwarming
The staff were friendly
The location is good with excellent transport links. Parts of the hotel look a bit tired but it's comfortable and warm. Great beds. Great bathrooms. Excellent breakfast spread - but see note below.
Has a tea making facility outside, tho need to pay for tea
Good hotel, enjoyable stay, some slight painting/redecorating going on the hotel will be better when done, Oldy wordly in design which adds to character, however do not expect something over elaborate. that to us added character, would I stay again, yes.
The hotel is good value in a good location, and it's nice to see a hotel that is not just the same style as these chain brands. More or less next door is a nonstop bar quite famous in Berlin. It is all part of keeping refreshed in Berlin.
